I'm sure a number of Caps fans will be disappointed with the fact that he has no head coaching experience (at least not in the NHL, not sure about lower levels...) but at least he has NHL coaching experience unlike the past 2 Caps coaches.

I can't complain. He has NHL coaching experience (Unlike the past 2 coaches) although it isn't head coaching experience. But most of all they needed to get a coach before July 1st and they did.

I am kind of shocked that this big coaching search that they wanted to do led to this.

Saying you need a coach by July 1st, while true does not mean you just go get one like needing a moving van before your lease is up. I hope he does well, but it would be nice to see a big name with NHL experience and preferably playoff experience drive the car for once.

If the Sabres stumble out of the blocks again you can bet Ruff will be available. Don't know if you like him but he needs a change of scenery.

I wonder if Marc Crawford was considered for the Caps job, I think OV could flourish under the Crow.

That said, I wish Oates well with the Caps.
