We have now tried FIVE first time NHL coaches in a row. One has actually helped the team take a step. IMO, this is not a roster conducive to a first time coach. This hire means nothing to me, absolutely nothing. More of the same "let's take a chance", "good focuses have to start somewhere" bullshit line that I have heard for a decade. I wish him the best and expect very little.

Uh... some of us were fans before 2005, most of us actually, and for a long span in the 80s when the team was successful defense and grit was the hallmark of the team. Ask Hunter and Langway. It's what took us from a laughing stock to a perennial playoff team. We allowed the fewest goals in the NHL in a number of those years.

Try adding something positive to the convo. Or continue LOLing at people and wondering why you get disrespected.

Fair enough, that makes sense, 46. I can certainly empathize with that frustration.

On the positive side, they're talking about boosting the offense and utilizing those weapons, which is something you have been talking about for awhile now. So, silver lining?

I have the privilege of meeting and speaking with Adam Oates on 3 different occasions. A finer, nicer, more gentlemanly person you will not find. He was gracious at all times and took his time talking to fans.

I golfed in a foursome with him in Ipswich country club. He was a very good golfer and loved to speak in a small group.

I would be happy if I was a Caps fan to see him as the coach. I think he will do well. He has dealt with superstars ( frankly he made them superstars) for his entire NHL life.

This is true. I am interested t see his approach to July 1. I think that the Knuble hole will be a bigger one that we think. Right now, we have money to spend and a winger to get, along with some 3rd/4th line depth. The approach will be interesting.
