I'm not going to debate the length of a suspension, because Colie's track record speaks for itself.

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

This hit seems like it easily falls under the pretenses of rule 48. The call was made as a elbow, but watching the replay its apparent to me he used his shoulder and/or bicep area of Malone's arm to make deliberate contact with Duper's head. Note how he leans into him at the point of contact.

I'm surprised there isn't much discussion about this on the SportsHoopla, today? When Kunitz lowered the boom on Gagne, there was a mob :lm:

just curious, are you saying Malone shouldn't get any?

From the videos that I have seen it looks like a rough hit to the back. He didn't raise his arm or lead with his elbow and it did not seem particularly high. Dup was kind of bent over too. In the RS maybe one game for a hit from behind. In the playoffs (if my math is correct...carry the 5....) Malone should be allowed to play 3 additional games for another team once Tampa is eliminated.

I don't believe he ever hit Dupuis head on that hit. The angle at :29 to me looks like Malone's shoulder hit Dupuis back...

At first glance, it doesn't appear that Malone makes contact with Dupuis head, as your example showed. However, the further the replay goes along after :29... like at :37/:38 and :47/:48, I believe it's pretty clear that Malone makes contact with Pascal's head. Note the position of his helmet after the contact. In fact, at :47 Dupuis' numbers are facing Malone, Pascal's head is down and IMO, Malone leans into him further to make that hit.

At :37, there is a player in the way to see anything, still say that he didn't make contact with Dupuis head

meh, at :29 the view is over Malone's left shoulder, when the contact comes from the right. Point being, both are inconclusive.

The view that cements it for me is :47/:48. Malone moves closer to Dupuis to hit him.

Not to mention, it is a blindside hit. Dupuis never saw it coming.

What about the McGinn hit? Just because he got a major and a game misconduct, is he automatically suspended? I know hes a 4th liner that came in half way through the series, so he is replaceable, but I like his energy and think he adds a lot on the 4th line.

Did anybody else think it was a terrible major call? After the BS call on the Thornton high stick for 4 minutes, I cant believe that made that call. The Kings were gifted 9 minutes of PP time, when they deserve at most 2- if McGinns was just a charge. Again, don't want to question the NHL's credibility but it seemed like they wanted the second biggest market to stay alive, and at least get a game 7.

:L at myself. It was at :30 instead of :29, which is the same as :47. at :30/:47 i still see it as he hit his back and his head went with his body. it was a blindside hit but not a hit t the head so i don't see a suspention coming and i dont think It's worth one...

These "blindside" hits are stupid... Why should a player always know your coming? It wasn't a head shot, clearly. And he had the puck, grounds for a hit. This rule 48 is fucking garbage.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. If a player receives a hit from behind, as Dupuis clearly was, and the officials found some form of infraction with the hit, plus Pascal's reaction following the hit leads me to believe there was contact with his head.

Consistency doesn't reside in the officials, or Colie's handbook, and because of that I'm fairly certain there won't be anything else given to Malone regarding discipline. I felt the need to point out that the cheap shots have gone both ways in this series, which is why I posted this, today.

The way the hit looked live, I feel as though had he gotten hit in the head, he would've had a head injury. But like you said, we'll just have to agree to disagree

If the hit had been delivered by someone without a douche-bag track record, I'd be obliged to think it was an accident. But, Malone isn't free of that description. He's been in everyone's face or crawling on their backs throughout this series. He has a couple goal-tender interference calls, and I also believe he leads TB in most penalty minutes, as well.

Point being, he's looking for situations like this. Everyone was quick to jump on Kunitz's hit on Gagne, and rightfully so... I just find it funny that this one is just passed off as an unfortunate circumstance.

Step 1: Grab the portion of the youtube link after the "v=" (in this case) ADf4sDNzG8I

Step 2: Put that between youtube tags (youtube and /youtube enclosed with square brackets.

Step 3: You're done (example below)

that's debatable. IMO, Malone was looking to make contact with his head, which is why I pointed out that it appears he leans in further to Dupuis at the point of contact.

Not to mention, it was a vulnerable position Dupuis was in, and those are the types of plays the NHL is supposedly trying to eliminate.
