And as i have stated, what does that have to do with fairness, its a perception thing you are angling against, not a fairness thing. You want all SEC fans to be lumped into the group with the ones who actually do this, but that still plays no part on this issue and its fairness doctrine you guys want to preach. Reality is that both conferences schedule similarly and one is a more egregious offender in the FCS game, but the other is being called out because they have had more success and a few of their fans are overzealous. This is not about fairness or level playing field, its about the bone that you and many others have to pick with the SEC over anything and everything SEC.

I have a friend who is an ACC fan that told me when the news came out he worried if the PAC would say anything about their vote, I assured him they never would as it wasnt about the vote or the 8 game schedule, it was about the SEC in general. He laughed then, but he called me today and said I was right. Even he see's what its about and he is not really a football fan except when his team is doing well.

There are 2 separate discussions going on in this thread. One of them is about fairness and having a level playing field. The other is about the shameful scheduling practices of the SEC. I have commented on both. Sorry that you're having a hard time keeping up.

What I find truly hilarious is that it's Bama fans in here defending these scheduling practices (specifically sticking with 8 IC games) when your coach is the only one in the conference who seems to want 9 IC games. I'd think you guys would be in here calling out the rest of the conference.

Perhaps your SEC roots run deeper than your 'Bama roots?

If it's a repeat of 2011 type season, there will be 2.

But if it's spread out like 1 East team and 1 West team that meets in teh SECCG, I agree only 1.

Conference shouldn't matter, overall team SoS should.

Conference shouldn't matter and SOS should be the "tiebreaker", imo. If you have, for example, a tie between a PAC team and an SEC team for a playoff spot, then SOS should used as a tiebreaker and if a team played an FCS school, it should count against their SOS, not be eliminated from the equation.

There should be a level playing field in that all conferences schedule essentially the same way. They should play the same number of IC games and as close as possible to the same level OOC games.

They should also play the same number of home and away games. In a 12 game season, it should be 6 home and 6 away for everyone. Not 6 home games for 1 conference and 8 for another. The only way that a team should have an uneven number of home games vs. away games is when teams do a home and home with Hawai'i as that is an established precedent that allows a team to make up for the cost of travelling to Hawai'i.

I would hate college ball if they went away from the conferences. I wish they would go back to smaller conferences of 10 in size and play a round robin like the Big12. Then we could go with the conference Champions in a tourney to see who is supreme each year.

^^^THIS^^^ I much preferred when the PAC had 10 teams and a round robin schedule. Imo, the only true way to crown a conference champion is for everyone to play everyone.

Even though my Trojans likely would have gotten our heads kicked in at least in one of the 2 seasons, it pisses me off that we didn't play Oregon last year and don't play them this year.

It also misses an opportunity for a big game with Washington since USC's new head coach is the one that brought them back to respectability.

Yeah, because we are already in endless arguments over whether the current conference system does enough to accurately rank all of the major teams. Now remove the common components of conference matches and the conference championship game. It will get so much more clear then right?

You are talking about creating a complete cluster fuck and putting a total end to very real data collected in the conference championship games. Really?

Just go back to 10 team conferences and remove the 12 team CCG requirement. Let 10 team conferences have championship games.

If a 10 team conference plays a round-robin schedule, doesn't that eliminate the need for a CCG?

Yes, I would be fine with it. And it's the most ethical way of doing it so long as they get to finish their education on a scholarship, just not be on the football team.

Some people may think it's more ethical to let a dog lay in the street and comfort it until it dies. I think it's more ethical to blow his brains out and put him out of his misery.

I bet the idea of walk-ons just burns your ass.

As long as the kid doesn't lose his scholarship OR has the ability to transfer without penalty, I don't see anything wrong with this.

However, I think it would have to be closely monitored though as I could easily see it being abused. There is a big difference between a kid who is simply not panning out and not getting any playing time and a player who is doing okay and getting playing time, but the coach feels there is another recruit who would be better.

Funny thing is i am not defending the 8 game schedule and have stated numerous times in here that I agree with Saban and dont like the 3 OOC games we produce each year that are of lower tier teams. I am just in here making(trying to atleast) people see that their blindness and bias is making them rail on one conference in the name of fairness when more than one does it, yet many have commented on the other who recently came out in regards to its 8 game schedule. That is all I am doing at this point, it strying to help enlighten and possibly make a few see they might have a problem with a deeper bias than they care to admit. admitting it is the first step on the road to recovery so I hear.

And i got a root that runs deeper than most, but we wont discuss that as its not pertinent to this discussion.

What you don't seem to understand is that the SEC gets asked about and commented on because they are perceived to be the top conference. No one gives a shit what the ACC does at this point because they are perceived to be the worst conference.

People comment and post about Alabama more than other schools because they have been the top program for several years. No one gives a shit about Kentucky or Colorado because they suck.

I'm a USC fan, I am extremely aware of what being the team that is targeted is all about. Because of the sanctions I have also had a taste of my team being irrelevant as well as being THE relevant team in the country. As I have said before, I can't wait for the USC "haters" to start up again because it will mean we are relevant again.

In short, I'll take being relevant and "hated on" over irrelevant and not talked about every single time. Imo, 'Bama fans should stop with the "woe is us, everybody picks on 'Bama" whining and enjoy the hate. It means you are THE relevant team in the nation.

Micheal Yam from PAC12 network just announced that an agreement is finalized and the PAC12 champ game is moving to the new 49ers stadium starting this year.

All the other major confs that have 12+ teams play their champ games at a neutral site NFL facility.

The ACC Championship Game is played in Bank of America Stadium (Carolina Panthers), the Big Ten Championship Game is played in Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis Colts) and the SEC Championship Game is played in the Georgia Dome (Atlanta Falcons).

Meh, I liked it at the home stadium of the higher ranked team. I do, however, see the advantage of having it at the same location every year. Especially with regard to hotels, etc.

He mentioned as some of the primary factors:

"The league found difficulties for schools hosting the game on short notice. Ticket sales were rushed, and athletic directors voiced concerns about potential issues with luxury boxes and season tickets holders needing to be moved to make room for corporate entities. With a game branded in one city -- just like the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta -- the league can sell tickets to the event year-round, not exclusively as a game tied to two specific schools."

Also some potential good news with the continued standoff between Pac12 network and Direct TV.

AT&T is in advanced negotiations to buy DTV. While getting deal approved by the Feds could take months to a year if completed, AT&T does have a carrier agreement with PAC12 net.

Nothing could be happening soon, but if the deal does happen, DTV could finally start showing PAC12 net.

Yeah, from a logistics and even advertising perspective, it make a lot of sense. I mainly liked that it was unique rather than just doing like everyone else.

One of the things I have liked about the PAC is that it's one conference that isn't afraid to "do it's own thing", like when the conference went round-robin before the additions of Utah and Colorado.

But it definitely makes more sense to do it at the same site every year. Any doubt about that was removed by the attendance last year.

The PAC12 net studios and offices are located in SF so this makes a lot sense all around.

I'm cool with this deal. Giners built a world class stadium.

But from my stand point, it would of been cooler to have it rotate between a few cities like Seattle, SF, and Pheonix at those NFL stadiums.

I'm sure if LA gets a NFL team, they'd try to get it hosted there too.

Seattle in December???? No thank you. The plan in Levi's Stadium is the correct choice.

Washington just announced it has reinstated QB Cyler Miles, but now it's up to Petersen on if or when he'll be cleared to practice or play this season.

WR Demore'ea Stringfellow will transfer which means he'll probably have to sit out the 2014 season if he gets accepted at another PAC school, but would be available in 2015. I'm sure many PAC coaches will roll out the carpet for him. He was one of the best WRs on the west coast during his high school and showed a lot of potential last year in limited play on the Huskies.

I'm in the minority it appears but I think the neutral site game is freaking terrible. That stadium will never be half full and make the Pac 12 look amateurish to the rest of the country. In addition, it hurts the top team's chance of making the playoff. The Pac already gets screwed all the time in the BCS and this will only lessen the chances of a team making the playoff. Great work Pac. These ADs make high 6 figures a year. They should be able to figure out how to put on a football game with at least a week's notice. Honestly most have a decent idea 3 weeks in advance if they have a real chance and sometimes it's even clinched 2 weeks in advance. Buck up and make the game better for the league, not the ADs.
