Alabama actually does schedule home and home on occasion.

They just back out of it 2 years later.

Just did one with Penn St back a few years ago. Also had an away game against Duke a few years ago, I have no idea why on that one.

But the neutral site to start the season is what we should be seeing more of in the future. Hopefully it catches on for other teams because the benefits are great. Able to get a new team every year, both teams get nice paydays and it's starting out the first game of the season with a high quality game, rather than starting out the year with cupcakes.

See Alabama fans are saying that it's for the neutral site game now (which it always was) but when it first happened (or I should say when I first noticed it happened) they were drinking the Tide Kool-Aid about it being for the uncertainty in the 9 game conference schedule. And that I was crazy for thinking that it wouldn't happen right after it was voted down 13-1 (congrats on Bama being the only school will to sack up for an extra conference game). Vegas makes sense as a city location like the PAC12 Bball tourney, but where you going to hold it right now?

UNLV Sam Boyd stadium? The place sits about 38,000 max and has a few token luxury box seating areas below the press box.

UNLV is just in the recommendation stages of attempting to build a new football stadium.

Comparing the new Giners stadium which cost over $850 million to UNLVs current digs is not even remotely possible.

Congrats for playing these SEC powerhouses in 2013. LOL
Geeze no wonder you needed to play Chattanooga late in November. Your boys must have been spent. LOL

Kentucky- (2-10)
Arkansas (3-8)
Tennessee- (5-7)
Mississippi State (7-6)

What a load of crap your SEC schedule was.

And with 9 conf games each would have another loss lol

Isn't Boise State's OOC very similar to Alabama's? One tough game, the first one of the year, then a bunch of stiffs. Isn't that 4-5 tough conference games 3-4 more than what Boise St gets now?

Not even close. Boise runs its program at a budget less than a third of Alabama's. They have all 3 star players on the roster. They are pretty much stuck in the conference they play in, but they are moving every angle they can to get into a better one, we even tried the Big East before it imploded and got kicked out of the big 6.

Meanwhile, they play teams with similar budgets and players, and most of the time kick their butts. They'd play more big name schools, but most won't agree to a return game. Boise has opened EVERY SINGLE year as the visiting school to a big name program, and most of the time, we come home with a pelt. Georgia, VT, Oregon (twice), and so on. But the math doesn't work, Boise CAN'T play more such teams just on the road, what, you think that we're STUPID out here?

Grow a pair of balls. Mich. St. did, Washington did, FLorida State & Virginia did. They've all agreed to home and homes. Again, we Broncos weren't very good last year, but we're willing as hell to play anyone, ON A LEVEL FIELD. We'll go there, but you need to come here. Alabama isn't. They won't play ANYONE in a fair match OOC, they should drop the elephant and make their mascot a chicken. Yeah, yeah, now comes the stadium size crap and greedy cowardly ADs who care nothing about the sport, only the profit margin.

It's ruining college football.

I get that it's small and that is something that could be worked out or should've been worked on prior to anything with staying in California. I still prefer the rotating every year between the NFL stadiums in the conference which would be better than it being at just one as it would guarantee a sell out every year.

I can't really speak for Santa Clara but if it's as expensive as the rest of California it seems like the Pac12 with be pricing out the student or alumni young enough to make it seem like a college game instead of like a dead NFL game like at the Georgia Dome. At least in Vegas the most expensive part of the trip would've been tickets not price gouging of nearby hotels and flights.

Yup, one game, always against someone that they know that they can beat. Boise does that too, except they are always on the road.

Then an entire parade of patty cakes, all hired to come to Tuscaloosa, put up a struggle for a quarter or two, and then lay down, take it, and go home with a pay check.

There's a word for that kind of behavior, and the last I checked it was illegal in Alabama (which may be why so many Tide frat boys are always headed to Nar'lins and 'Lanta most weekends.)

They are "Cupcake" teams when they play Alabama. They are "Conference Rivals" when they play Boise St.

And nothing you can say is going to change that.

There's only a couple of teams in the entire country that schedule good OOC games on a consistent basis. Don't know what the fuss is about really

USC
Oklahoma
these are the 2 that come to mind.
add to it if you think your team does so.

Texas usually has some pretty good games. Ohio State, UCLA, BYU, Notre Dame. Not great, but not bad either.

What I love is how SEC fans keep changing the reasons why they schedule like they do. Every time one of their excuses gets blown up, they make up another one.

So far, over the years and in no particular order I've seen:

1.) We can't be expected to play tough OOC games AND play an SEC schedule.
2.) Those games are how the cupcakes balance their athletic books.
3.) Our local economy depends on those extra home games every year.
4.) Why would we play in a region where we don't recruit a lot?
5.) Other teams stadiums are too small.
6.) We get a lot of pressure from state assemblies, etc. to play the in-state cupcakes.

These are the excuses just off the top of my head. Feel free to add others.

Yep. LSU, Tennessee and Georgia need not make any excuses.

Wow. If say the Yucks did win the north this year and the Spoiled Children win the south, this is one of those scenarios where I'll wish the big one hits Santa Clara and the stadium collapses during the game. Talk about a no win situation. Blah....
