If Helf leaves Oregon and it meant Chip Kelly came back, i'd buy Helf his plane ticket and ask if I could help with a down payment on his house in Pasadena. I would then cheer the guy and thank him every time he came back to Eugene.

And we do not know yet if Petersen is at Kelly's level do we?

Even using helf isn't really apt as he hasn't been HC long. What if Bellotti had gone to UCLA and you ended up with Petersen? I know you like to key in on the 7 win thing, but they topped that last year and were tracking up. What pisses us off is his continued use of Don James name in saying he wanted to beat his records of years as HC and number of bowl wins, even said the morning he took the job that he hadn't even talked to them about it and then took it two hours later. It's not that he left us for SC that pisses off most of our base, it's how he did it and some of the things he said both before, and after he left.

You can bet game week going into UW v SC in 2015 will be anything but boring up here.

But you were specifically talking directly to both of us who you know were just having fun. You can't use the generic everyone response about the vociferousness of your defense when it wasn't a generic and typical attack.

OD, 4D20 is a bammer and it's fun to pull his chain here and there, but he is also a Stanford fan and has been involved in many of our Pac conversations and was a regular contributor of our pac12 weekly pick'em.

A fine poster who is definately a knowledgeable and passionate fan of his fav team and conference. Shouldn't be any other way. Like his posts for the most part and have NO PROB with him in here on a PAC topic, ya know your going to enjoy his replies either way.

Where you been OD?

Had no idea he was a Stanford fan.

I'll let him tell you why, but it is well known he is bama through and through, but has ties to Stanford and pulls for them.

Either way we have adopted him as a Pac12'er and treat him accordingly, including taunting him every chance we get.

I'll take a guess he is a Stanford fan because they beat Oregon and he doesn't have to fear his Tide getting smashed by the Ducks in NCG.

How good of a game would that Bama vs. Stanford Bowl have been last year?

Damn tasty in my OP.

you're kidding?

UW got rid of a coach that couldn't win more than 7 games (except last year he got to 8!) and picked up a coach that has been long wanted for by bigger BCS conferences since he took the HC job at Boise. What he did at Boise, as a duck fan I worry what he will do at Washington.

Meanwhile, USC got rid of a joke and hired a mediocre joke. If this was a comedy club, you got rid of the main act, and hired the opening act.

Keep posting please!! With your history on here, every post you make ensures USC's success and UW's demise!!

Wait!! I have it figured out. Ducks and Huskies hate each other and OD is on here saying UW got a better coach.

Genius OD!! Pure, unadulterated Genius!!

So if helf leaves Oregon and goes to coach UCLA you'd be waving banners of love for him when you faced his team? :laugh3:

He is part of the enemy now. Intellectually we can thank him for his job of bringing our program out of the ashes to the point where it was again attractive enough for a real HC to take the job and still want to set fire to his vehicle when he again walks the sideline on Montlake. He lied on his way out and showed a lot about his true character and there is no way we won't take every opportunity to tell him, and those foolish enough to root for him, all about it.

TF, we have already gotten under your skin more than once when we bring up Sark and we haven't even scratched the surface yet of what will come when we get back on the rotation for facing them again. We haven't had as much reason to dwell on it given that we won't see each other this year. 2015 will be a whole different story.

:laugh3::laugh3:You think you got under my skin? That is SO cute!! You give yourselves waaaay too much credit, though.:laugh3::laugh3:

You get no argument from me on this. While I totally understand having to deny until the ink is dried on the contract, he never should have let the Dawgfather's name fall out of his mouth.

I'd feel the exact same way if it were USC and someone did that using John McKay's name.

fuck the huskies but seriously, Petersen is a good hire. Sark was awful.

We'll see. First thing Sark did was land the conferences #1 recruiting class, including all 3 of the guys that rest of you were swooning over!!

The players seem to have already bought in and are having fun and seem to really like the hunh that he's installing.

So far, I have zero complaints!! We'll have to let him coach a few games to see if my opinion changes.

And is considered the greatest coach in USC history by the vast majority of Trojans. USC does not do statues, but there is one of Coach McKay outside the new McKay Center.

I think there are 2 statues on the entire campus. 1 of Tommy Trojan and 1 of John McKay. If there are any others, I've never noticed them.

There is no more beloved player, coach or administrator in USC history than Coach McKay.

His recruiting classes were great here as well and the players always seemed to buy in, but what did it get him on the field?

But more importantly, the kids under Petersen are all saying the accountability and expectations are WAY up under this new staff. The detailed attention to the fundamentals was also something that took them a bit by surprise. How much will that translate into wins? I don't know, but I'm glad the discipline is back on this team. It is something I talked about every season Sark was here. This isn't just something brought up after he left. He just doesn't push the fundamentals as was evidenced by the occasional lack of proper technique on tackling or routes and in the league leading number of penalties.

I also expect the current kids to pay the price in a few expulsions from the team. Sark put up with lots of stupidity from his players.

Happy about your recruiting? Since when didn't USC always find itself landing big time kids?

Sark can recruit, but can he get the most out of them and can he run a team of young men with the discipline needed to ensure they represent your university the way they should? He didn't do that for us, that's for sure.

How may of your great recruiting classes were #1 in the conference or top 10 in the nation? I'm sorry, but a great recruiting class at UW and a great recruiting class at USC are 2 different things. For any coach to have success, he needs talent. Washington just doesn't get the talent that USC does. That alone can make a big difference.

Also, as far as USC always getting great recruits, part of the reason Kiffin was fired was because his recruiting classes were getting worse every year and we had some de-commits after the ASU debacle.

As far as fundamentals, etc. that's more of the assistant coaches purview. However, I'll make my own determinations when I see how the team performs on the field. In the end, Sark will be the same as any other coach. His teams will win or he'll be gone.

As for what he did or didn't do for UW, I really put zero credibility in anything you Huskies say because you have not shown much ability to remove the emotion of being upset over the way he left and be objective.

On the one hand, you talk about what a good job he did bringing you out of the disaster that your program had become and how he had the program trending up when he left, then you claim he can't coach the kids up.

To bring UW from where it was when he took over to where it was when he left, shows that the man can coach. Whether he can coach to level that USC expects remains to be seen. As I said, so far, I have no complaints.

As for Petersen, I think he's a great hire for UW. I don't think he would have necessarily been a great hire for USC which is why he wasn't hired. He and Haden mutually agreed that USC wasn't the right fit. I don't know if it was the expectations at USC, Los Angeles, or what, but it ended up being obvious that USC wasn't the place for him.

His success at Boise doesn't guarantee success in the PAC-12. Do I think he'll be successful at UW? Yes, but he also wouldn't be the first coach to leave a mid-major for a BCS conference and struggle in the bigger conference.

Have a feeling this is going to be a talking point for awhile until Coach P gets his sea legs back under him @ UWUB.

I think he'll get a bit of a pass for a season or 2 because he still needs time to get his stuff installed, get some kids that he recruited and adjust to the level of play and coaching in the PAC-12. Plus, he gets a ton of respect, so that'll buy him a little time.

However, after about a season or 2, if UW isn't in the running for the PAC-12 North, you'll start to see folks question if the move from Boise to UW was too big a jump.

Duck fan saying the move from Boise to UW was a "step down" in...3.................2.................1!!
