Interesting article.

I think that it is difficult to evaluate the psychology of trolling because none of these people would actually do/say this stuff in real life. Hiding behind a computer screen can provide a veil of safety and anonymity that you otherwise wouldn't have. Plus, it is a lot easier to be less empathetic when it is a computer screen you're typing at and not a real human being.

That is a sword that goes both ways. I have found in teaching my online courses, that if I stick to text based chats, the students interact more (due to anonymity) than they do in a video based chat. I guess, for me, I have just never seen the need to be someone else online. I am pretty much the same person I am here as I am in RL. Though, I do make an effort to be more conscious of my grammar on the Stanford sports boards.

Your right Buddha it's time for me to come clean:

I don't work for a brewery nor coach in my spare time, I'm actually a **** actor. I've had hundreds of award winning movies and have sex with thousands of hot women, whew, I feel so much better now coming clean.:suds:

Speaking of you working for a brewery, the other night I went online to do a search to see if anyone else was using the name 'wiz o nater' for anything else and found something that shocked me, horrified me, and then made me laugh...

whizzinator

Laughed my ass off when I found out what it is used for. Hint: I have a feeling Mamba and Wallace might find the need for one at some point given some of their activities.

Well I'm glad I changed the spelling around a little, Legal wouldn't be happy with me on that research...

I had never heard of it before. At first I thought it was some kind of sex aid or something for kinky people into peeing or something. :noidea: Found out it was used to beat drug tests and laughed my ass off.

Wonder if the Seahawks get a team discount on bulk purchases...

I'm extremely conscious of my grammar simply because I don't want to look bad if I call someone else out for it. I posted a thread about the study that shows 25% of Americans believe the sun revolves around the Earth and almost accidentally posted "25% of Americans believe the Earth revolves around the sun." The irony would have been ridiculous.

But "extremely conscious" to me consists of just making sure I use it correctly as it flows from my fingertips. I rarely proof read a post before I post it. I've been told by anyone who has read anything academic I've written that I am an excellent writer and it is kind of funny because I 100% attribute that to the years of posting on different sports forums. Graduated summa cum laude from UW and then obtained a JD/MBA from Stanford and yet I would probably fail a 3rd grade writing class because I couldn't tell you the difference between a verb and adverb, all my writing skills come intuitively from the repetition of 5,000 posts a year since I was in high school. I don't know a damn thing about sentence structure, but I know how to write properly. At least my $100,000+ in student debt tells me I do.

I am in the same boat, but my debt simply tells me that my wife proofreads my dyslexic ramblings well. My dissertation was an endeavor in her teaching me I use commas too much. I find technical writing actually easier than quick posts on a board.

On a football related noted, Stanford has moved Dallas Lloyd (a 3-4* QB) and Kodi Whitfield (he of the one handed grab against UCLA) to safety to fill the void left by Reynolds leaving early. I wonder what prompted the coaches to move a receiver that wears #9 from receiver to DB? Could he be the next Sherman?

See this is one of the major issues for micro brew's coming up with epic names... It's tough prime example is me just rambling off names of posters and if I hadn't spelled yours a little different, bam federal court here we come.....

Not gonna lie, I'm really hoping Chip channels his Pac 12 roots and draft's Reynolds. We so need safety help in the secondary, Patrick Chung sucks...

I wouldn't mind seeing that either. Though his numbers were down his year, I think a lot of that was people targeting Lyons as the weak spot in our secondary. I wouldn't mind seeing him, Martin and Yankey end up in Indy though. Truly making the Colts a Stanford based team.

Reynolds isn't afraid to come up to the line of scrimmage and smack a RB on a run play, that has been missing since Dawkins left Philly ( or better yet pushed out of town) Plus his cover skills are very good....
