Did you ever notice when studying maps that Oregon is to Idaho, much like Portugal is to Spain? I mean it could be said that Oregon is Idaho's Portugal.

:gaah:

Oh wait here's another clue, we live in a coastal state, where the sun sets into it every night???

Maybe we should just rip out a bong and smoke a bowl everytime the question is asked "which way is south?"
Im betting that we would so frickn baked we would make Cheech and Chong look like pussies...

I do a lot of the basic fundamental teachings at home. Just in case the school doesnt cover it.

But in 4th grade they all had to be able to recognize all 7 continents and oceans.

In 5th grade they hadd to remember all the state capitals and state locations.

In JR high they are on to country recognition.

My boys were ahead of the game. They, like me, find it fun to study maps.

Brings me back to my freshman year in high school. In my history class we would do these warm up activities at the beginning of class, and this day the assignment was "Write down as many European countries as you can." As I'm doing the assignment I overhear this guy go "Is Africa considered a country in Europe?"

To this day that remains probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard while someone was being serious.

Don't even get me started on the failures of our public education system. The most successful students are not successful because of the system, but either because of innate genetic ability and or good parenting.

I saw a study that stated 38% of Washingtonians believe that Sasquatches exist.

So, Washington folk? Do ya?

There are doubters, believers, and knowers. Where do you fall?

Any encounters?

Trust me, he's real. I've seen him many times at the bottom of a bottle of Jack.

Mike Leach tells it like it is. Pirate Capt fires a broadside right at the Saban garbage barge.

Washington State head coach Mike Leach went off on the proposed rule during a radio interview on WJOX in Birmingham, Alabama, and it was certainly entertaining to listen to.

"It's one of the most mind-numbingly dumb suggestions that I've ever heard and what makes this one even more reprehensible is the fact that it is so transparently self-serving," Leach said. And he was just warming up.

"It's a reaction to the success of Auburn and Texas A&M, clearly, so rather than innovate defensively and respond defensively... and rather than adapt our teams it's like we're gonna invent a rule," Leach said. "But in order to invent a rule you have to have a reason to invent a rule, so then they're going to try and hide behind player safety in order to do it."

Leach went on to proposes three rules he felt would enhance player safety, obviously mocking the defense of player safety as a priority focus for the proposed rule. They were:

1. Don't allow defenses to blitz

2. A defense is never allowed to bring more players than an offense has to block

3. You are not allowed to hit the quarterback.

At one point during the end of the interview Leach said this defensive substitution rule proposed would rival the halo rule for absurdity, if it happens to pass. Leach doubts it will pass, and that seems to be a common feeling by coaches, media and fans. The support for this rule just does not appear to be coming from many places outside of Tuscaloosa.

Im not sure about the rule change but one thing they should is throw a flag for false every time a tram runs up the line, gets set, then the entire team stands up and looks the sidelines for the play. Or at least the refs should be able to run and kick him in the nuts when Leach's does that stupid offense but still gets a delay of game penalty.

Why cause he's actually playing what's allowed in the rules? I totally think the highest of Saban, I believe the man is great coach, but on this topic this is the stupidest comment a coach can come public with, he's coming out and saying in a round about way, " fuck it I can't d it so it should be outlawed." There is always , always a way to coach up a team to play an offense like this, hell the offense gets just as tired as a defensive guys.

To bitch and moan on this topic is foolish, big deal the playing calling on offense has changed, take quick breathers on defense while there looking at the sideline to get the play, have another unit to rotate onto the field as soon as that ref's whistle is blown......

Except Saban D's against it all the time. Completely shut out Ole Miss last year. Only allowed 10 against Tennessee, beat A&M, etc. We lost to #2 Auburn and #6 Oklahoma last year. At what point does the fact they are very good teams come into play?

Futhermore, it has nothing to do with the plays being called. It's about the offense going to the line after each play to prevent the defense from subbing, which this rule attempts to address. When they changed from a 25 second playclock to a 40 second playclock to speed up the game, this was not what was in mind. Coaches are exploiting the rules.

But that's the only reason I would like a rule "change" is if the refs actually did their job and called the false starts which most of those offenses do. I do think defenses need to adapt to that certain offense just as defenses have always ended up dominating all the new gimmick offense but false start is already a rule and it is never called when the entire offense is set.

I understand what the main issue is, ( I just rambled to much in my post earlier) my point is this 4D, there are ways to sub guys in between plays, the offense gets just as tired as the defense, there is no advantage to "hurry up offense".

They can very easily have two to three standing on the sideline around to where the line of scrimmage is gonna be, coaches motion to the players that will come out after the play and as soon as the whistle is blown your moving guys around, we call it "leaking" it does work. ( yes you can counter that I'm not coaching college speed and it would be a serious point)...

It has to start with the coaching staff it can be countered, and lets face it that is what happens in football time and time again, you can't get rid of coaches trying new things to better there wins, that's why this game is the best sport ...

I'm not trying to piss you off or bash Saban, like I said the guy is the frickn god of coaching football, it's to me a " cop out" talking about, it can be beat and it should be handled on the field and not in the media..

My thoughts....:suds:

Two part's to this :

1) Ok lets be really honest here, Wallace is well known in the past to hammer the US politics on the political board, so for him to beat against the US? Well we could get a to for one, ship him and Beiber to Canada?
" Dateline the Northwest, a Beaver and Beiber deported to the Canucks for a case of Molston Ice."

2) Do you know why Hockey was invented? It is for the simple fact boys were afraid to tell there fathers they wanted to be figure skaters!

Exactly. The only real problem that I've seen USC have vs. the hunh is sanction related (as in just not enough guys). As for how the defense handles substitution, it's really no different than facing a slower paced offense.

Whether we are playing Oregon or Stanford, substitutions are situational, the players that are going in for that situation are on the sidelines ready to sub in. The only difference is that the players have to get on and off the field faster vs. Oregon than they do vs. Stanford.
