Absolutely. I'm far less worried about the D going into next year despite all the attrition coming off of it. You rotate in so much more on defense that most of the kids starting next year at least got some time this year and the coaches know more or less what they have and what they have to work on.

The thing is, you're never going to have everything. Right now your defense is awesome , one of the best around and your offense was really good with skill players and a precise QB and your special teams were really good so you had a great year. But protection needs work so when that gets better in say a season then you realize your DBs are not up to par your your line or you are thin at linebacker. Then then next year you're running game is behind. It's rare you have everything. Most years they have to mask some deficiency. Darnold just broke Vince Youngs Rose Bowl record for passing yards. Well Vince Young got the record against USC ( I watched it with my own eyes). People talkabout Petes great teams but most had some major flaw. USCs offence that year was amazing but the defense not only had injuries it had no depth in some positions. If I recall correctly the safeties in that title game were a walk on and some 2* kid who had no business playing D on a big time program.

Lots of chatter that Foster Sarell will be committing to Stanford on Saturday. I'm sick enough already this week with a cold that's had me coughing so hard, my ribs feel like I took on Iron Mike in a boxing match. That will make me power puke for days.

That would mean the trees end up with the #1 and #2 Tackle recruits in the nation. And one right from our back yard.

If it happens, it happens. All this 'chatter' is from people looking for things to justify their thoughts that he is gone. Foster and his family has pretty much shut everything down.

I mean people were using people that Foster was following..or even who his mom was following. I mean really?

Welcome to the club. Stanford regularly takes the best O line prospects from Socal.

It really has gotten out of hand. I mean it's always been bad, but now people can stalk and pressure everyone around a kid in all sorts of social media forms.

Every kid that currently shows interest in 2 or more teams is flat out guaranteed to get cussed out and trashed by whatever team they don't pick and it's just sad. These are 18y/o kids trying to make huge life altering decisions and supposed adults act like jackasses about it.

I can't imagine being a parent of one of these star high school players trying to deal with all of the craziness. Has to be overwhelming.

If Sarell picks Stanford you wish him good health and move on. There's no sense in being a dick about it.

That Penn State QB. I don't know what he was thinking especially the second throw. Leon was just sitting back there playing center field. Jack Jones was lost on both of those two plays so it's a good thing they kept Leon back there. lol

I wonder about his arm strength. That first one he had the receiver open, but floated the pass. Not sure if it slipped or if he just doesn't have the strength to get it there. The second time was a bad decision though.

Pretty much 80% of college football is looking for those big and athletic offensive linemen. There aren't many to begin with and most go to the schools known for big linemen. All of the rest of us are ever lucky to get 2 or 3 more or less have 5 solid linemen.

I dont think the line is that far off now. Maybe they are if Browning can't improve with handling pressure. A mix of both him and the o-line improving a bit could work. If we can't have a little of both, one or the other needs to get much better.

Bama flat out blew up our RG all day long, but somewhere between the personnel on the field and protection calls/play calls in the booth they never made the adjustments to get the ball moving again. All of it needs to improve if they are to take another step forward at some point.

They had quite a few wrinkles in that first quarter and moved the ball at least decently, then after bama made adjustments UW appeared content to drop into a conservative vanilla play calling cycle and just punt the rest of the day.

All about misdirection in the 1st quarter. No clue why they went away from it. 3-4 plays was the difference in the game.

Bama adjusted and wasn't going to let the same plays burn them. That's what great defenses do. We needed Smith to also make adjustments and keep an edge going and that never happened.

2 things I won't understand is why there wasn't ever a sluggo or a designed QB draw. Just try, if a pick happens, it happens.

It really was disappointing play calling for a Petersen lead team. They had a few great plays up their sleeve early and then a whole lot of nothing inspiring after that.

3 or 4 plays away?
Huskys had 44 yards total rushing. Alabama had 268. Were these three plays 100 hundred yard pass plays for TDs?

Not sure why it bothers you so much jim, but take away Jake's really bad decision that lead to the pick 6 and maybe tackle on the 3rd or 4th guy that their rusher got past and things are quite different. Doesn't mean taking those back is a win, and just like the Rose Bowl, bama executed when UW didn't and no one has said otherwise. It is still truth that there were a small handful of plays that were huge in that final score.

True, but even with all those yards Alabama's offense only put up 14 points. If UW was going to go down, it would've been nice to see them go down swinging before it was way too late. They needed a little more Pirate in them.
