I think the South will ultimately come down to USC and ASU. However, 'Zona will have a lot to say about it and if UCLA can get some production from and/or compensate for having an inexperienced QB, they could end up winning it as well.

The South could follow a road to self destruction with five teams in the preseason top 25 if one team is not being able to step up and distinguish itself among all that talent. The team that does step is likely headed for the final four. The team that likely steps up is one with the best coaching and that comes down to Rich Rod or Graham.

All im saying is following the close logic yes Utah was that close to 0-9 but that means USC was that close to 3-6 and UCLA 2-7.

Well it was actually 4-5 for UCLA in worst case scenarios for in conference one score & OT games.

My point, UCLA went 2-1 (.667) in one score & OT games & 4-2 (.667) in decided victories.

USC went 3-2 (.600) in one score games & 3-1 (.750) in decided victories. (That one decided loss was to UCLA of course :thumb:)

While Utah went 5-2 (.714) in one score & OT games & 0-2 (.000) in decided victories.

So I'll say it again, don't go lay all your cash or hell even yourn v-cash on dem Utes because they were skating on thin ice all season last year. Fortune like that, just has a way of balancing itself out more often than not.

Consider QB Injury situations. Line took about half the year to solidify and now return most of it. the mid season loss of Dres Anderson.
I hear what you are saying but I still feel like people are discounting Utah more than they should

Injuries and quality depth are real factors for more than a few PAC schools but I hear what you are saying.

I have them @ 7-5; 5-4 with losses to Vs Michigan, @ Oregon, @ SC, @ Arizona & Vs UCLA. I'm sure they could win at least one or two of those. The two home games will probably be good close games.

They did last year and on the road. I just think Jimbo may have something for them, I expect a good game.

Not all close games are created equal. There's close because both teams are pretty similar in strength and both played really good. Theres close where a really good team let an inferior team hang close and almost beat or does let them beat them. There's close where a good team goes up by a comfortable margin and the lesser team gets a few bounces and makes it close at the end but was never the better team that day. there's close where a team with better players goes up on a team with less talent but doesn't have the numbers to put it in cruse control and has to hang on or lose.

Been a day since I reviewed this thread...

Remember THIS...

Beavers "ass-raped" Utah this year and stole their DC and OL coach...thus opening up the "Hawaiian Pipeline" of future players, kicked Utah State in the nutz and stole their OC and QB...both known for moving the ball and scoring.

Can't wait to see a well-oiled D like Utah had last year and a offense like Utah State had last year. Fast on both sides of the rwak.

Food for thought....

BTW...

Congrats on the recent recruit news for Oregon, just wow.

4-star WR Trevon Sidney (La Puente, CA) has committed to USC. But he's claiming he still wants to visit other schools, especially outside California. That he still wants to visit Notre Dame and Washington. Sarks loaded up on WRs since arriving at USC and Sidney would be joining a loaded class already at that position so he may well be some one who flips down the road to another school that improves his playing situation.

Enjoy it because your class is about full and many of the other bigboys will be jumping you in the fall and Jan. You got a great looking class, but it's July and LOI is 7 months away. You also need to worry about keeping all those early stars you landed. Flips happen.
