One of the questions of realignment was where the division line should be. Utah and Colorado look more north than Cal and Stanford do on a map.

what if any difference would having the divisions with UU and CU in the North and Stan and Cal in the south?

I think Oregon would have had an easier road to the North title and would have won it each year. not sure how the south would have played out. Stanford could have won it a few time i think

Waterpolo is not even a Pac-12 sport. The teams from Pac-12 schools compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, along with several non-Pac-12 UCs and a few CSUs, and Hawaii. Perhaps even a smattering of private colleges such as Loyola Marymount.

Olympic Men's Water Polo team seems to be pretty much the PAC (OR specifically the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) All-Star Team.

As we have discussed before Oly, you can't have the cali schools all in the same division.

How many Duck players are from that state? Every team in the conf wants at least one guaranteed road trip to that rich and fertile recruiting grounds every single season with no less than a second one every other year.

There would be a riot from the northern schools for sure.

No way you get USC n UCLA and Cal and Standford to agree to be in the same division.

I could also bring up the division of splitting travel partners into 2 divisions. IE UW, OR, AZ,Stan, USC, Colorado vs WSU, ORST, AZST, Cal, Utah, UCLA

Oh I didn't miss your question, I just said it's a pipe dream even if colorado and utah are farther north.

Who wouldn't want to trade two dipshit teams for a bad one and a great one in your case? Dumping Stanford off and taking more fluff makes for an easier schedule, but also more crying about SOS. Having Stanford on the slate every year has helped with that. Going into this new system it helps more than ever. When you don't know what you are going to get from the rest of the north, at least Stanford gives some solid street cred. Give that up and what SoS do you have?

As for the alternate division you mentioned, that was coined the 'zipper divisions' idea and was one of a few actually being considered when we went to 12.

They settled on what we have to appease the cali schools and the northern schools. Neither loved it and yet both could tolerate it. It really was the only answer. The zipper could have still worked as well, but added complexity with all of the rivalry games. The Cali schools all play each other every year, even from the other division. That greatly limits the possibilities for all of the other teams.

I know all this. the question im posing is what if? would things have gone the same way for your team? I say yes if not better for Oregon. having Utah and Colorado likely would have been better for UW in the first couple years maybe not as much last year with Utah

10 years ago It didn't matter what division Oregon would have been in (in the old Pac). You win a little and all of a sudden you come up with stuff like this. Cant wait for the season to start.

What I'm saying is you've (oregon) been in the Pac for a long time and had plenty of time to win ( not you ,the team).
Talking about how you'd have it easy with this or that team team gone and this or that team moved to your division just sounds silly. Like if the last 100 years didn't happen.

Is the site having issues again? How the fuck do I keep ending up in the water polo forum? I didn't even know the Hoop had a water polo forum.

Can someone direct me to the college football forum?

Water polo is stupid anyway. Horses aren't good swimmers.

The game is different than it was 100, 50, 20, to some extenet even just 10 years ago.

Yes I know . Football began 10 years ago.

My son plays water polo. You gotta be very athletic. I used to be a lifeguard (in my 20's) and I can't hang for two minutes with those kids. But you're right. I don;t come here to find out about who beat who in water polo or tennis.

I didnt say football started 10 years ago its just a different game than it once was. the land scape isnt the same. not all the old powers are still the power teams. and not all the old doormats are still such. to say 1 team has an advantage over another because they beat them 10 out 10 in the 50's is rediculous.
