I am laughing at thinking next year is a down year.

Have you not heard of Morgan Mahalak?

He has weapons everywhere.

Returning RB: Freeman, Tyner

Returning WR: Addison, Stanford, Carrington, Allen

Returning Oline: Hunt, Lousi, Johnstone, Brenner, Hunt, Pisarcik, Andre Y

WR/RB: Nelson, 5 star freshman James, Byron Marshall

Keys to most dynamic offense will be handed to Elite 11 QB Mr. Morgan Mahalak.

Oregon has never had a problem replacing the QB position.

If you are not a Ducks fan and want to believe Oregon will be "down" next year don't watch this.

Mahalak is a witch

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7tTmIEehCTA

Doesn't matter and apparently I have heard of him. While I didn't remember his name, I remembered that there is a qb that you Duck fans were excited about and mentioned that fact. He hasn't played, so you don't know how he'll respond, especially in his first season as a starter.

Matt Barkley was also highly touted when he became the starter, however, in his first full season, when USC hit the toughest part of our schedule, he struggled some and USC finished 9-4. He had just as many weapons as Mahalak will.

Your quoted post, proves my point, btw. So thanks for that.

Jeez, you call Marcus great and the devils advocates say shit like "Oregon always gets Qbs to perform in their system" or "When has an Oregon QB performed well in the NFL once leaving that system"

But when convenient people also say how they will not be "as good" without Marcus and due to take a step back.

Can't have it both ways.

Oregon isn't on any kind of downward spiral. Teams are going to have to rise up and beat them, and not wait for them to fall.

I don't care who you are though, losing MM is a step back, at least for a year. How big a step remains to be seen.

Don't write Furd off, they arent trending downwards. They lost a lot of oline from last year talent but they have the horses. It just didn't materialize this year. They will be back in contention for the North next season.

UW is losing a lot of talent on the defense. But theres hope Shaq returns and all of the playing time the young secondary got this season will do nothing but help next year. Ross and Budda are both going to be great. They both need to get bigger and stronger though... Our offense should be better, but I'll wait and see on that.

Cal and UW are both going to be improved. Not enough to beat Oregon though, unless their QB transition turns into a disaster. :hope:

I don't know what to think about the beavs. Mannions gone, and maybe some of them are happy about that. No idea what they do next year.

Cougs are cougs. I could say how bad I think they'll be next year, but then they'll beat us in the apple cup this year. So I'll refrain.

The south will still be better than the north next year top to bottom, but Oregon or Furd will win the pac. Again.

How do you define a down year? There are three 9 win teams in the South; two of them are going to have a down year if you define a down year as not winning it. Likely, competition in the South will be even stronger next year. One South team has four losses IC but is still a top 25 team. So again next year, the South will cut each others throats, likely coming once more to a tie breaker at the end of the season. In the North, it looks like another cruise for Oregon to the CCG, their only loss or two coming at the hands of the South or OOC. But no matter what you have left, you cannot lose a QB like MM and be near as good. But more important, they will still have Uncle Phil and that, in the end, is why Oregon is Oregon.

With what Oregon has built, a down year for them is what it was for USC pre-sanctions. 9-3/8-4 would be considered a down year for them at this point. It's kind of ironic, because not so long ago, Ducks fans would have considered a 9-3/8-4 type season to be a huge success.

PAC North teams aren't just sitting sitting around waiting on Oregon to have a down year, any more than the PAC was sitting around waiting for USC to have one. Teams, especially in the North, are working to improve their teams with an eye on Oregon. Sooner or later, a season comes along where it all catches up. Heck, Oregon hasn't won the PAC North the last 2 seasons and that's WITH this seasons likely Heisman winner at quarterback.

Why can't they be near as good? As Mamba mentioned outside of Marcus pretty much the entire cavalry is back. They are returning every play making plus getting Addison back from injury. I am excited to see what a sophomore Freeman can bring.

Obviously, Mariota is a big loss but they have an extremely talented qb stepping in. Just as Marcus did when Thomas left.

I don't say they won't be near as good, they will for the reasons you point out and more important for the reason I point out. What happened when MM had a hitch in his leg? Ducks lost to Zona at home and looked bad doing it. If you blame that loss on injuries on the line, then MM is as not the issue. "Near as good" is not the same as dominant. In any case, it gives some hope that the buzzards will circle.

It's amazing how quickly Duck butthurt goes to Defcon 4 when someone suggests that they may be looking at taking a step back after losing the likely Heisman trophy winner at qb.

First of all, no one is saying they definitely will take a step back. In fact, my original post stated that Oregon MAY take a step back because of the qb change. Not that they WILL take a step back.

I am very optimistic about Mahalak.

A true freshman now, sitting and learning from Marcus.

He will have some bumps in the road. I am not sure that will translate into losses.

The Ducks thankfully are younger and deeper than they have ever been. Helf and co are doing an outstanding job bringing in good classes.

2015 ends up being the ideal year to break in a new QB.

I say they WILL without a doubt, no question.

But like 10-2 or 9-3 for a year. Not some well deserved disaster unfortunately.

That game was a collection of things(that luckily you can afford to have 1 of with this new system). I put it mostly on the makeshit online that was terrible that game and the D that couldn't get key stops anytime needed. But a lot caused that last early on.

O, and Arizona themselves executed great and won that game on the road.

I personally don't think it was because the rest of the team couldn't pick up slack for MM(who still played pretty damn well). It was a collection of mistakes and they were still 1 moronic penalty away from probably winning.

But obviously we won't have a real answer to any of this til next year gets rolling a bit. Right now I am focused on MM winning 4 more games, 1 at a time.

How is that being butthurt? Maybe you are the one who gets butthurt the moment logic is brought into the question.

But ok, play defense and try and spin shit all you want.

You sound like USC fans in Barkley's first year. I will grant, however, that Barkley was a true freshman, so he didn't have a year of sitting on the sidelines watching like Mahalak has. That will be an advantage for Mahalak. However, standing on the sidelines watching is a lot different than actually being out there as the starter. Especially when you are playing for the team that everyone is gunning for.

You definitely should be excited and optimistic with Mahalak. He looks like a legit talent. But don't be surprised if he struggles in his first season. It happens sometimes. Regardless of the talent around him, he is still the qb and still has to make the right reads, etc. and get the ball to those players.

Me too. Should be a great game. USC is set to be returning as many as 10 players on offense (unfortunately Agholor is unlikely to be one of them) and as many as 8 on defense. Plus it will be our first year with a full compliment of schollies, so we will finally have some depth. It will be young and inexperienced depth, but it will be more than we've had.

Hopefully, all of the freshmen and redshirt sophomores that we've been relying on this year, will have learned a lot from getting so much playing time this year and will be less mistake prone.

Really looking forward to this game. It is the next to last game of the season, so we will know going in, exactly who both teams are.:suds:

Ducks should have mercy on the beavs and let him play in the Civil War.

Give them a shot at a bowl, and give Mahalak some experience.

Screw the playoffs. You arent going to win anyway. Take care of your little brother!

Wallace. Put up the UW or Don James avatar of your choice.

:suds:

COPY the avi choice good sir...congrats on another beatdown last night. Your O-line played well.

BTW...

Your OC JS pulled a O play from Riley's playbook of lore last night...BASTARD!...resulted in a UWub TD.

"TE drag pass left, QB roll right, throwback"

I laughed when it was executed to perfection and wondered, "Why hasn't my OC called that play all year." :L

Again, to all the Huskies fans on here...Congrats and GL2u come Bowling season. :suds:

Yeah do that Oregon.

Doubt it happens with so much on the line for Oregon's playoff ambitions.

Dude, I already thanked you for proving my point once. Now you're just being needy.

And I've already stated that you have no idea how to compile a rational thought..twice. Looks like I won upped ya.

I'll just put this one in the win column and move on before the old adage comes into play regarding you making me dumber and what not...
