might take some time. but I stand by USC will regret not hiring him..we wont ever know if he did or didn't want USC job but think USC made the wrong hire. don't see usc current team with 3 losses with him coaching

You still have depth issues that won't be worked out until a few classes after the sanctions are in the rear view mirror. Not that you won't get back to full scholarships easily, but having as many seasoned upper class players as the rest of the top teams does matter.

No idea if Sark can raise the program up to where Carroll had it or not, but it's way too early to simply dismiss him and asking the what ifs kind of does that.

Blacked out before UW game. I was there, but the last thing I remember is being nearly knocked over by wind as I stumbled my way into the stadium. My friends told me it was a good one though.

I was pretty lit up before that game myself. Not as bad as you I'd gather as I had my daughter with me, but I wasn't going out there without some liquid heat and I sure didn't.

yeah its tough..bringing in the 5 star players they have been will help. but sark could be in trouble..3 losses..if they lose 5 games much of the fan base is going to be calling for a change. if nothing else defensively. they are much worse defensively than under pendergast

Wilcox turned UW's defense around very fast. I have no idea why they are struggling on that side of the ball, but he's a hell of a coach. I do know Sark learned his lesson with holding on to Holt way too long. If it's not working he now knows the importance of dealing with it swiftly.

I agree. USC had 48 recruited scholarship players last night and proceeded to lose 2 more to injury. It's life under reduced schollies. I'm glad Sark doesn't allow anyone to use them as an excuse. Kiffin started doing that and imo, that's when he started losing the team.

Fortunately, this is the final year of that. I think that relying on so many young guys has hurt us at times this season, but we will end up being better for it in the long run. Guys who wouldn't have played as much as freshmen and/or would have been redshirted are seeing significant time. It will pay dividends over the next couple of seasons.

I'm not convinced that Petersen would necessarily have been the right hire either. Sometimes, it's about how a coach fits with a particular program, it's fanbase and the general area. I think he's likely a great fit for UW and I think Sark is a good fit for USC.

End of the day though, only time will tell if either or both programs made the right choice.

The db's are very inexperienced and it shows at times. Also, late in games is when the reduced numbers has it's biggest effect. The defense is simply out of gas by then.

Our offense needed to gain 2 yards and only gained 1. If we get that first down, the game is over. That's on the offense, imo, not the defense.

I didn't mean to imply that I shared the views that Wilcox is the problem. I really don't know. Haven't really paid close attention to USC this year. All I do know is Wilcox is HC material IMO. We were impressed by his immediate impact on UW's program. Not only is he a great coach, but a good speaker and leader. I'd say we miss him 1000% more than Sark up here.

You didn't imply that. I agree with you re: Wilcox. I'm just backing your point. I haven't seen a problem with his schemes or defensive play calls. The biggest issues that I've seen have been with inexperience and fatigue.

USC is basically 2 plays (or 2 late game first downs by the offense) from being 7-1 (6-0 PAC) right now.

What he needed was the right coach. Some of our fans were critical of him, saying he was slow, a walk on at Wazoo and didn't play there.Came when ASU needed the help. Graham was high on him from the start and he has earned some praise. He made 20 tackles in the USC game.

Agree on the coaching, he just needed someone who believed in him. He was a solid player and I think his brother massively flopping hurt his recruitment. It's not like he was a bad player, I always saw him as a Lofa Tatupu style player in that his instincts make up for his physical shortcomings.

He would've been fine for us as he actually is a perfect fit for our defense but much like he did with Mayes and Dockery he just runs guys off by being a douche waffle with his my way or the highway philosophy even when it is hurts the team by playing guys out of position.

I don't think it really matter as outside of Pole and Cooper, this Coug team isn't assembled like others in the past where crappy weather benefits us. We used to have such inferior athletes but such great coaching from the Price era that is helped. Now we are at least close in athletic ability as most Pac-12 schools but have horrible coaching.

You haven't read much of what we say about Unger then. Think the Seahawks might be missing him more than any of the other injured players on the team outside of wagner. I've been saying for a couple of years now if it were up to me I'd get rid of everyone off that front line except Unger and they are lucky to have him.

They haven't played in bad weather yet. There are always strange ghosts on the Palouse where bad things are known to happen and throwing in nasty weather is just one more thing. But even with that there are no excuses for SC to lose this game.

I think you're right. It's still early in the week but I'm leaning towards a USC win (probably not in the pick'em). I think theres a good chance for the upset, but the cougs likely coug it away. If that forecast gets worse though...

Theres also the fact that the South is running away with head to head matchups vs the north! 9-4...

If they manage to take them both this weekend they'll be 11-4 vs the north and will have beaten the norths 2 best teams, 3 times!

Are the PAC football gods letting us become so predictable? I am doubting that...
