so let's start another interesting convo.

who is the best and/or most inspirational College pac10/12 QB that you have seen? extra points for those who have seen them play in person.

homer alert.

for me it's joey Harrington. I flat out loved watching him play. he was a winner at oregon. watching him dive it in on fourth and one against Wisconsin. catching a pass in the holiday bowl vs Texas. tossing beautiful passes to howry and Hartley. sprinting to the end zone after every touchdown pass like it was his best moment ever.

number two is Matt leinart. just an amazing passer. and just when you thought you had every route covered, dude would break a twenty yard run. I hated usc during that time, just due to the precision of that asshole.. all hate aside, an amazing pac QB

tell your stories of the best pac QB you ever saw....

Hard to exactly remember them, the one's I saw in person that is.

Probably Furd's J Elway..tore thru the Beavers like a wet paper bag. Saw him play twice in Corvallis and twice the game was over by halftime. We all were drunk and moving on before the 2nd halfers. Joe Avezzono era you know.:L

I'm old enough to have watched Warren Moon when he was the QB for UW. I was quite young, but still remember being confused at the crowd. Seattle isn't known for being a particularly racist place, even if it is fairly white dominated and hearing the crowd not only boo, but use really bad slurs. Moon wasn't the most consistent QB. He had a hell of an arm. Might have had the deepest threat of any QB I can remember off hand, but was wild sometimes and didn't always make great reads. He had more ints than TD's in his first year. There were people calling for James' head and demands were made to change the QB. Coach James was stubborn and said very publicly that he was hired to put the best team he had on the field and he would continue to do so until the day it isn't his job anymore. He fought the alumni, he fought the tyee club, he fought the news media, and pretty much everyone else.

Moon had a break out year in his second season (sr as he was a JC transfer) and lead UW to a rose bowl win over Michigan. Before that season was half way over the slurs and boos all but vanished and everyone got on board.

So not only for the deep ball he threw and how he became a HOF QB, but also for the dynamics of watching that struggle with James in his first few seasons and racial undertones and watching the city move past it, I have to have Moon on my list.

It would be hard not to list Mark Brunell and Billy joe hobert. Brunell was the seasoned vet that was supposed to take us to a national title until he got injured and Hobert was handed the rock. They both had some outstanding games that year. Brunell could get out of almost any trouble. Not so much mobile, but his creativity and ability to go down field were unrivaled.

There were many Pac 8/10 QB's I saw at Husky stadium and many have been listed by their fans here.

I know I've seen a few from non conference as well, but none are jumping out at me.

Favorite QB from non - USC Schools

Washington - Marques Tuiasosopo

Washington State - Drew Bledsoe (Only NFL QB I ever played a game against - Makes me feel pretty old).

Oregon - Kellen Clemens - I can't explain why but I just always rooted for this guy. Had ne not gotten hurt his senior season I think he would have lead Oregon to some huge wins that year.

OSU - Matt Moore - lesson in perseverance.

Cal - Aaron Rogers - OK I hated him when he was at Cal since I was cheering for USC but he was a great QB.

Stanford - Andrew Luck - (I wanted to say Jim Plunkett but I never saw him play at Stanford and really only saw him play on those old NFL narrated 30 minute specials when I was a kid).

ASU - Jake the Snake - 1 Minute away from leading the devils to a national championship. Never say die and he went to my rival high school.

Arizona - Only one I can think of is Nick Foles but to be honest I didn't really remember him before the Eagles.

honorable mention non Pac QBs;
Utah - Alex Smith
Colorado - ?

For me, it's Matt Leinart vs. ASU in 2003. The qb battle had literally gone down to the end of training camp with neither Leinart or Matt Cassell really taking control of the position. Pete Carroll went with his "gut feeling" and named Leinart the starter.

USC was coming off the triple OT loss to Aaron Rodgers and Cal, were not playing well vs. ASU and Leinart injured his left knee and ankle in the 2nd quarter (it didn't look like he'd be able to play in the 2nd half). The score was 10-10 at halftime and by the time Leinart got back on the field in the 3rd quarter, it was 17-10 ASU. He then led USC to 27 unanswered points and a 37-17 USC win. Pete Carroll has said that was the game when the Trojans truly became "Leinarts Team".

Outside of that. Some of the qb's that I've really enjoyed watching were Dennis Dixon (before he got hurt), Jake "The Snake" Plummer and Cade McNown. More recently and currently, I've liked/like watching Nick Foles, Andrew Luck, Jake Locker, Sean Mannion and Marcus Mariota. Ryan Leaf was fun to watch at Wazzou, but kinda more fun when he melted down in the NFL.
