I read the rule and it forbids players from bowing after a good play..

Good job.

I remember the Ducks especially trash talked up the Huskies when Jake Locker was flagged for a unsportsman when he tossed the ball in the air after a TD. That penalty cost us the game. Years later they still bring it up to diss Jake and the Huskies.

They can take a hike if they think they're going to get sympathy from anyone for the bow flag. Plus as you point out, it's right there in the rule book.

It's crow on a platter time.

Can't believe OD can't post here. Can you imagine the past couple days here. Sad.

I honestly don't think Helf is anything close to Kelly, but he's not why they have been playing worse so far this year. Afterall, he coached them last year and they were fine.

The injuries on the O line are huge and obviously a big part of the decline in that offense, but what no one is talking about is the loss of Aliotti. Of all of the changes that team has gone through in recent years, the change at the helm of the defense has appeared to impact them the most. That defense is nowhere near as stout as it was under him.

Mamba does appear to have taken the nose dive off the cliff after that loss.

Guess it's more than just a loss to him. Feels like he was kicked off the porch with the big dogs and it doesn't look like he wants to chase his tail around in the yard with the rest of us.

Kelly ran a impressive offense and was an innovator at the college level with the playbook, but he also: loaded the roster with special ed thugs and criminals, was caught buying players, show caused, and got the Ducks slapped with probation. It was a wrist slap by the NCAA, but it still knocked them down a notch. The Kelly era also had USC and UCLA struggling, and the Sark rebuild of Washington took way longer than planned. The Ducks were handed the conf on a platter for multiple years.

The PAC landscape has already changed dramatically since Kelly's exit. UCLA and USC are both relevant again, and Washington is moving up as well. The PAC has the best collection of coaching talent of any conf. Both Zona schools are cooking. Stanford continues to be a beast with it's smashmouth ball.

These type of losses for the Ducks was just inevitable. Too much competition from the rest of tPAC now.

I think most of the Ducks are realizing this. But I can still imagine this loss is a massive bitter pill to deal with since they were ranked pretty much top 5 since the season began and just lost to a unranked team. And we all know out here in the PAC, we don't get the same treatment with ESPN and the tSEC biased pollsters. Losses like this in tPAC hit harder than tSEC.

Oh well. That's football and plenty more of it to come in Oct and Nov. Lot's more football to play.

It's football. Players play less than 100% all the time.

Injuries are different. If you are injured then don't play. If you are hurting you play..... Like every other football player ever.

Just another excuse. This coaching staff? Not sold. Stupid penalties, lack of motivation.

Chip Kelly ain't walking through that door. This is a team on the decline.

Oh well. Win more PAC games is my hope like always.

Step back and take a look, Mamba. Zona leads the South and Wazoo/Cal is challenging to lead the North at 2-1, no undefeated team in the North. The only team who can explain where it is ASU who lost their entire defense. Zona is making a lot of noise right now, looking good and just as lucky (might be just what it takes); UCLA hasn't a convincing win; USC has lost one, Washington should have taken Stanford, Cal is definitely coming on. In the south we're talking about Utah and, yes, Colorado is looking up. So we're still waiting this season for the winners to show up. Oregon might be in decline but are still the best bet to control their destiny. What is settled in that the PAC's chances at having a team in the final four went down the drain last night. No, UCLA won't make it.

In other words the Pac is what team SEC typically claims it is: A conference full of teams with flaws and none ready to be in any real contention.

Which brings it full circle that duck fans are feeling the sting of rejoining the flock.

Right now even the bottom feeders in the conf have really stepped up their game and the teams at the top are all trying to catch lightning in a bottle. It's not the first time the conference has had this level of parity and it won't be the last. It's just not likely that any of our teams make the final 4 this season. Several are in good enough shape that maybe next year we have a few fighting to get there.

That call on Locker was the worst unsportsmanlike call ever made in the history of the game, I remember it well. The Ref could have been looking the other way on the call last night too. Rule should be changed: no penalty, just throw the offender out of the game, punish the offender, not the team.

Do I think the "Oregon Era" is over?? No.. No reason they won't be able to recruit top quality talent with the backstop they have. Is the landscape of the PAC-12 changing? No question. Everyone's getting better from top to the bottom. I agree with Not Neutral, there won't be a PAC team in the final four. UCLA might very well lose to Utah this week. I'm not sold on them yet.

The reason some think the era is over is because of the loss of Kelly and Aliotti. You can recruit all the top talent you want, but without the right coaches you aren't going anywhere. Ask Michigan about that one. Look at how quickly USC turned around after dropping Kiffin.

I don't know if you can definitively say Helfrich can't lead a P5 school to the top 10, but there is also no reason to believe he can and the difference in their defense after Aliotti left is substantial.

They need to get the right coaches in there and fast if they want to just have this be a bump in the road. If this is a down year and they follow it up after Mariota leaves with another one the recruiting classes will suffer and it gets harder and harder to get back to the top 10. Especially in a conference with so many quality HC's right now with so many upwardly trending teams.

You aren't going to fake your way through the Pac. It's going to take talent and outstanding coaching to reach the playoffs. This year and for at least the next few.
