As with Thor & Wheeler, Trea Turner & now Walker...we're still the better team.

Need to lock up Nimmo. His departure leaves a hole.

Another starter
Nimmo
Bullpen

If I want to be greedy I'd say get a bat and 2 starters but probably unlikely. I just don't want Ruf anywhere near this team. Maybe one of our young guys slots into DH and we have a nice rotation between our infielders and DH ,(Vientos, Baty, Mauricio)

We won't but I'd gladly still take a flyer on JD Martinez. Down season but still better DH option than Ruf.

It appears that the Mets and Brandon Nimmo have reached an agreement on a new deal, per Joel Sherman. If this is the case, the Mets have straightened things out well and are a better team than they were at the end of the season.
Reported deal is 8/$160MM. Reasonable deal for a 29 year old who is still getting better.

Honestly $20 per is really not bad, especially if he produces near last year's level. In 2-3 years this figure is a bargain.

Now get another SP and if we're being greedy a bat (JD Martinez)

I'd actually like to see them bring Conforto back...but the FO might view him as a "that ship has sailed" kind of player. But he'll only be 30 y.o. in March, and could be signed for a bargain on a 1 or 2 yr deal. We definitely need a DH...and a LH hitter.
Martinez will be 36 in August...and is probably asking for more $$ & more yrs...so I'd pass.

Also...I haven't heard anything....but I guess Bassitt won't be back??
If that's the case, I hope it doesn't come back to haunt us.

I think Conforto on a prove it contract would be great.

Rodon wants 7 years....not sure Uncle Steve will grant his wish....but I'll never say never.
Maybe go 5...and see what shakes out?

It could be a sound investment for down the road though, given the ages of Max & Verlander.
