Not that much. Makes me think we had zero interest in bringing him back:

Be nice to know what or who Eppler has his sights on now as far as pitching moving forward.

Rich Hill went to the Red Sox, so that's another depth piece gone.

I also see the trade route being a realistic option for starters/relief. Cano, JD Davis and Dom are all odd men out. We can't have all of them vying for DH. McNeil a possibility as well, especially if we were to sign a Kris Bryant.

Everything is in a state of flux now due to the lockout, so it's anyone's guess who ends up where.
I have no problem with Hill leaving for Boston. He was signed only as a temp fill in due to all the injuries to the pitching staff.
If Cano can't be dealt for anything, or if there's no universal DH, then they'll have to buy him out and eat that contract.
Also if things come down to Davis & Dom...I'd opt to keep Dom, full stop.
And fwiw, McNeil or Davis could each definitely fetch us a decent starter, +/or quality BP arm.

No question Dom over JD. Heard an interview with Eppler and he's already spoken to Cano, he knows him well from the Yankees but completely agree, if no DH Cano isn't worth keeping around.

Who will be the Mets new Skipper?
Is Beltran back in the mix?
Maybe Super Joe?
Brad Ausmus?

I'd be good with Ausmus..and IMHO, he has to be considered the frontrunner.

Hard No on those other 3.

We've been greatly expanding our analytics team so Showalter goes against that, wouldn't make a ton of sense. He's also notorious for overusing and mismanaging bullpens.

On the other hand, I think this team needs an old school kind of alpha manager. Rojas clearly had no control over this team last year. The McNeil/Lindor fight, Lindor starting 0-50 or whatever his streak was and not sitting, the thumbs down etc. I wouldn't mind someone that can establish a culture.

Also with DeGrom, Scherzer you can't have a first time guy. Ausmus is my personal choice, I could potentially live with Buck but I don't want to try and find the next Alex Cora. There was a window for that and it's closed.

Bob Geren (remember him?) is also a good possibility for Mets skipper....or even for bench coach/assistant mgr.

Just sayin'
