The Wheeler move is smart. High enough that he should consider it but also Mets us a pick. I'm sure he'll look for a long term but I think it's a reasonable move.

Don't forget he turned down a 4 yr deal with us prior to last season....which was how we ended up with Ramos for a 2 yr deal.

Re:Rumors, I like Dom Smith a lot but he's a first baseman and we obviously have our first baseman. I think he carries some decent value in a trade, wouldn't mind getting a CF in a Dom Smith centered trade.

I actually think we're in really good shape going into this offseason. I think our needs in order are:

1) Relief help. One or more relievers are a must (Will Smith is a really ideal fit for us)
2) Centerfielder. I guess Nimmo is the default choice but it's time for a real deal CF.
3) Starter (if we don't bring back Wheeler)

I'm good with the infield, corner outfield is loaded, top end starters are ridiculous and Wilson, Lugo and Gsellman are solid options in the bullpen.

Get a top end reliever and hope Diaz bounces back, get a centerfielder that can actually play centerfield and we're in great shape.

Nice pickup....he and hitting coach Chili Davis are good friends.
The players are gonna dig him too. Team chemistry & camaraderie are very important.
Carlos Beltran is lucky to now have them both working with him in the dugout.
