Word around here is that it was nagging him, but he was worried about speaking up because he hasn't been producing, didn't want it to seem like an excuse. Sent him to get checked out and it's messed up pretty bad.

Jenner, Calvert and Horton all skated together today.

Not good for Joe, Patty and the Avs.

Maybe not so good for Team Canada if this is a lingering thing. Hope it's just minor but obliques can be nagging. Hopefully he doesn't miss much time; this kid is awesome to watch.

Avalanche's Duchene suffers oblique injury

shall I name the rest of my hockey pool so we can all know the injuries ahead of time?

Nabokov is on IR. Anders Nilsson has been called up from Bridgeport. This is Kevin Poulin's chance. Unfortunately the defense in front of him leaves a lot to be desired & Grabner has been benched. He's been in Capuano's doghouse for quite awhile. Colin McDonald is on the 2nd line tonight against Toronto. I'm a bit concerned this game could get ugly.

Yikes...Josh Harding steps on puck during warmup. Backstrom right off IR pressed to start...no backup as Kuemper was sent down to make room

They tracked Kuemper down at the Winnipeg airport before he boarded his plane for Iowa. He's at the stadium now, suited up & ready to go if needed.

Still no news on Datsyuk. Probably won't know if he has a concussion and how long he might be out for until practice tomorrow.

The NHL’s third-leading goal-scorer (still) was off crutches Monday as he met the Tampa media, and he revealed that B’s coach Claude Julien paid him a visit while he was in the hospital. He also received a text message from Zdeno Chara wishing him well on behalf of the Bruins.

“I had him at the Olympic Camp and I got to know Steve the person,” Julien said after Monday’s morning skate. “When you look at what he is in the league and what he’s accomplished, to have that happen to him I thought it was just important to go by and see how he was doing. It was as simple as that.

“Again, it’s a guy – I said that after the game – he’s one of those players that people from all the different cities come up to watch and play and he’s one of the reasons we fill buildings and you hate to see that, from anybody’s point of view, to see a guy like that get injured that way. So I stopped by and he certainly feels like he wants that opportunity to represent his country and he’s going to do everything he can and I just went there and kind of showed my support.”

I hope Stamko's MD told him he could walk without crutches, because there's nothing more annoying as an AT than some machoman athlete who thinks they can do without their crutches. We don't tell you to use them to make you less of a man...we do it because YOU WILL HURT YOURSELF MORE if you don't use them. It's not a pride thing, it's a health thing. Be responsible people!

Poor guy. Nobody can ever spell his name right. And are we sure the guy off crutches isn't Corey Perry?
