Schenn arbitration scheduled for Monday, July 25, 2016. One would think he will sign over the weekend.

July sucks. So boring. Need more hockey news.

Can't wait for camp to open and preseason games. I love watching the kids play.

Schenn asks for 1 year 5.5mil in arbitration, Flyers ask for 2 years 4.3 AAV. So they're about 1.2 mil apart.

Curious asks on the years IMO. Schenn asks for 1 year where he'd be RFA still afterwards, Flyers ask for 2 years where he'd be UFA afterwards. Woulda thought it'd be the opposite?

Honestly, wouldn't mind 1 year at 5.5 for Schenn with an RFA year afterwards at all.... Thought i guess then 5.5 is your qualifying offer.. maybe that's not so good. Maybe that's his strategy..

I'll still be shocked if this actually goes to arbitration. Probably at least 3-4 days left to make a deal stick. Schenn really stuck a pretty generous offer out there (for himself, that is). The final deal has to be for more than 2 years also. No way we let it get to that.

I agree, I think a deal gets done. But it'll have to be before the hearing which is on Monday.

I'm actually fine with a shorter deal. You don't wanna go 5-6 years and then see a drop off from where you're projecting him. Then your stuck. If you keep it around 3 years, it gives more flexibility. And schenn more inventive to score. If he doesn't pan out, short term pain and he's still potentially trade bait if need be.

But technically, I believe they have 24-48 hours after the actual arbitration hearing begins to still come to an agreement before the final decision is made.

I wouldn't necessarily say a 5-6 year length of contract, but possibly as much as 4.

I am a bit surprised that they differ by close to $1.2 million in annual salary. Just average out the two if you must and give him $19.6 million across 4 seasons. The average then is $4.9 million per, which likely sounds a little high to us or the Flyers, but it's not far off.

Let's not go crazy over roughly $500K in annual cap hit.

If this somehow does end in a ruling via arbitration, the biggest setback will be that he only has a two year contract and then will be an UFA.

The Flyers obviously want to give him Couturier money only, but do they want to give him 6 years as well? We don't know yet.

The offers are just posturing for negotiation purposes. It will end much closer to the middle. I'd guess 4 years, $5.1 AAV.

Ah, perhaps you are right. Looks like we may find out. I was surprised they didn't come to a deal today. If they do go to arb, they'll be the first this season I believe.
