Didn't get to watch the game, but the Rangers have had our number for a long time now. We've lost at least 3 games to them every year going all the way back to 2011, including one playoff series that went 7 games.

The huge key here is number 1 if that doesn't happen we are screwed.I agree with all of these. Number 5 if its not Stolarz i say we stick with Mase for 1 or 2 years

Agreed. You can't have an $8 million anchor.

My expectations for the team were a playoff bubble team, which they were,so not too dissappointed.
Royally pissed at Gee's and Jakes season. 4 straight seasons of diminishing points for the captain,
and Jake shows up every few games.

Giroux should have had as many assists as his point total.

I really hope this is partially because of his offseason surgery last year, and partially because the defense is so bad that the forwards have to track back further just to get some breakouts.

When you watch other teams, they have players that will fly the zone early and generate opportunities on the breakaway or odd man rush. Put the defense on it's heels a bit. How often did we see that this year for the Flyers? Almost never. To me, that says it's coached in to them or they're fearful the dmen will turn it over rather than get them the puck, or both. I think that plays a huge role in their lack of offensive punch this season. Because right now, Provorov is about the only dman I trust to make passes over about 10 feet when trying to break out. Ghost is a threat in the offensive zone and with his skating, but even his breakout passes leave a little to be desired.

That should change in the relatively near future. Myers can move the puck. Sanheim can move the puck. Combined with Provorov, that gives you 3 guys (one for each pair even) that can move the puck with some consistency and skill. That ability puts the forwards 5-10 feet higher up the ice, it puts doubt in the opposing blueline and they give more space. That alone should generate a lot more offense.

Add in Lindblom bumping a few players down a line, and Vandevelde off the ice, and you've got a pretty decent recipe for some significant improvement. The bottom 6 looks a hell of a lot less useless offensively if you can put a few Cousins, Konecny, Weal, Vecchione, Laughton, Leier, Raffl types out there instead of Vandevelde and/or Bellemare. Then the opposition can't throw out whoever they want against the bottom 6 without fear of being scored on. Again, that should generate a lot more offense.

That Mfer Wood did pretty good against Simmonds last time he may have even won the fight. I wanted Simmonds to beat his ass so bad and the linesmen stepped in very disappointed about that.

Looks like Simmer did pretty good. Dude got off the first 3 but Simmer got busy at the end.

If Gee could somehow get back to normal skating wise we may be pretty good next season. If the young defenseman all pan out which is unlikely we could be pretty good for a while.

I think we've done things right this time.

I think the tables may turn possibly starting next season? Lundquist has slowed down considerably and our group will continue to grow and develop. They at the very least have been able to compete against the Rags. A year plus ago, that wasn't really the case.

The King is going to be out of the league soon. His horrible year wasn't a fluke.

Agree and I think I can speak for most of us that we will be happy he will retire. No disrespect to Lundquist, the guy is a 1st ballot HOF and I wish we had him. He was the pest that killed us for several seasons. Honestly, I will miss him because he was a great face for the game. I just wish he was playing on the west coast instead of our nemesis.

So suspect that Simmer will get another shot at Wood tomorrow night. In fact I predict Simmer will get the Gordy Howe hat trick.

These franchise goalies have killed us for decades now. Lundquist being recent and Brodeur wasn't long ago either. I think Billy Smith had us in the early 80s. We need to return the favors at some point.

They wouldn't have our number if Gee ever showed up when we play them.

Morin called up for tonight.

Wonder if Vecchione plays tonight too.
