I don't understand the mass majority wanting to move B. Schenn right now. He is 22. This reeks of the JVR situation where we will look back on it in a year or two and regret the move. For once I would like the Flyers to continue to be patient, let the younger players develop and lose the win now at all costs mentality. It kills the books and the future.

I for one am not regretting the JVR move. Made the playoffs without him had plenty of 20 goal scorers and Luke Schenn was our best playoff dman by far.

It would still be nice to have JVR but I understand the trade - it's not the worst in the world but they could have done better

JVR was useless for us and underachieved greatly and would've continued to do so in a Flyer Uni so I think we did fine in that trade. His value was so low we took what we could get.

I wouldn't say JVR was useless, if he played up to his potential here like he has in Toronto, he'd be great with G and Jake, but he definitely could have been better - it doesn't make him useless though and that doesn't mean it's fine that they gave him away like they did - they should have gotten more for him, if they wanted a d-man in return

What would people think about a Jussi Jokinen-Schenn-Simmonds line? Jokinen would add some sorely needed speed, has a decent shot, plays decent D and doesn't come up small in the playoffs.

Well agree to disagree but im sure if we could've gotten more for him we would have.

There is no way Maatta should've had that much playing time last night. Bylsma just kept throwing him out there even though he was a human turnover from start to finish.

yep.. almost half the pens roster are free agents.. they've got 9 spots to fill, with 16 mil in cap space.

I would guess after blowing a 3-1 series lead big changes coming in Pitt.

for sure...blysma is gone...it will be interesting to see how they handle the cap moving forward with huge deals for Crosby, Malkin and Letang...then Fleury and Neal also around 5 mil i think...

Here's a list of next years top free agents Do you see any sleepers on here that we might want to pick up on the cheap

Top NHL Unrestricted Free Agents

He's not on that list but I would go get Zach Redmond - he played for the Jets and is only 25 years old - do you guys remember the skate injury he had? He's got loads of talent, just very deep in Winnipeg and he probably isn't getting a real chance - he's still young and can develop into a real nice d-man

I just looked him up I guess if he's cheap he cant hurt. He can replace Gill.

Top NHL Unrestricted Free Agents

Without being able to spend TOO much time on it:

2nd line LW: J Jokinen, M Moulson, R Vrbata
3rd line LW: D Winnick, S Ott, S Downie (if healthy, might be able to get cheap)
D, if Timonen retires: M Niskanen (duh), A Stralman (as a cheap stop-gap)

I'm assuming LeCavalier or Schenn is the 2C and the other is gone.
