Absolutely, but I think the point for the Panthers would be to clear room for their younger players, Vinny would essentially be taking Sean Bergenheim's spot in the lineup

This is true im reaching just to try to get rid of Vinny.

yep, this. I'm willing to give up an asset to get rid of vinny or umberger, I just think that's what florida is trying to do with their vets too.

The difference is that the Panthers have guys who are NHL capable like Vinny Trocheck and Rocco Grimaldi - the Flyers have no forwards who are that capable who can step in for Vinny or R.J.(Scott Laughton doesn't count because he's already up)

I wish the Flyers had a better fourth line - they need to move on from Zac Rinaldo, his 1 point in 19 games is really killing this team - they can't roll four lines and put pucks on net because they just don't have enough talent on the bottom lines

Well that makes me angry.

He's not that good, sorry

He's one of those AAAA players - very good AHLer, and in spurts can be a solid player in the NHL but he won't put it together completely - this is the right move for the Flyers - he's not getting it done for them - you can't play him on a bottom line and expect anything from him

On a team icing Rinaldo and Umberger there is room for Jason Akeson

This is the problem

People think because they have R.J. Umberger and Zac Rinaldo, it means that it's acceptable to have Jason Akeson

All three of them don't belong on the roster - they need to really improve the bottom forwards - too much pressure on the top dogs

I agree with that. The bottom 6 is horrendous.

I still think Akeson is a decent depth scoring option. He isn't entirely useless like the other options

The problem you face with him is that he's one of those guys that has to play with skilled players or he's useless - but at the same time, he's not really worthy of top six minutes - people got enamored with him because of what he did in the playoffs but that was one series - he hadn't even played very many regular season games let alone playoff games, so he hadn't experienced a full NHL season

I'm actually kind of hoping the Flyers move Braydon Coburn in a package for either David Perron or Jordan Eberle - I know Eberle has his faults but boy that would really help the Flyers offensively - if they're going to have issues on defense, at least get the offense going and make it more exciting

I was going to make the case for him but I just checked out his numbers. Didn't realize he had zero points this year.

I'm totally fine with moving Coburn for one of those two. At least add something to the offense while the defense continues to suck. Eberle making $6mil long term worries me a bit with Schenn, Couturier, and Voracek getting raises in the future though.

Honestly, even though Eberle would be great offensively, that is a concern with the contract - if they can't get him, I'd ask for David Perron and Jeff Petry - I think David Perron's style of play would fit great for the Flyers and they'd also get a righty shot in Jeff Petry - if the Oilers really want Braydon Coburn I could see something like that

I thought setoguchi would've been an alright add on the waiver wire.. Think he would be an alright addition to the couturier line.

With the caveat that I don't know what his contract is

I think we are bound to see a move. Coburn to the Oilers has been an ongoing rumor for 2.5 years. Something has got to give in Edmonton.

Setoguchi is horrible he couldn't do anything with ice in Winnipeg last year. Bum!

I'm just not sure about this team scoring shouldn't be a problem but yet it is. The D can look great then stink when the O scores a lot. It's puzzling but if they can play better D they stand a better chance of hanging in the games and winning more. I therefore would like to see them focus on that. If you trade Coburn they better end up with a better dman in the trade or at least a younger dman with upside.

Bingo. He doesn't fit on the 4th line. He may work out on the top 3 but they don't want to give him a shot.
