I like him but he still has at least three years left on his contract, I would pass on that - I don't really want a big contract like that, it's just going to block the younger players even more - and there's already enough salary on this defense

He's only 3.9 M which isn't bad for a player of his caliber. Of course I'd immediately move Grossmann. I look at this a a nice upgrade although I do understand your point due to the length but they could still make other moves.

I know but they already have big contracts on defense - they don't need to make any big moves on defense yet, they have to ride it out, get someone cheap as a 5-6 d-man and roll with that, have to wait for the younger d-men to earn their spot
