If that is their best defense then I think the Pats are in trouble. It strains credulity that some type of incompetence would affect nearly 100% of the Pats balls but 0% of the Colts balls. We also have other teams now saying they suspect the Pats did the same thing in their games. If it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, its probably a duck.

If the officials can tell the balls are inflated or deflated and did not use a guage when the checked them before the game, why would they not notice them when the game was being played?

The blame for this will fall squarely on the officials for not checking the balls properly.....

How would they have noticed it during the game? It's been stated many times and tested by various media that you would not notice the difference in 2lbs psi unless you were squeezing it. Officials do not need to excerpt pressure on the ball while moving it around. There is zero chance a ref would ever notice the difference in game.

The blame for this will fall squarely on the individuals responsible for the balls being under inflated......

Even if Jackson didn't say he thought the ball felt funny what difference does that make in the end?

None, if you stipulate that the Colts' equipment manager was experienced enough to notice the difference.

But I bolded the word "end", because it sure casts doubt on the reliability of the reporting in the interim.

The NFL is fully aware and allowing the QB / ball boy to set up the football any way they want it.

Once they are set up, Brady feels the balls to see if he likes them and chooses 12.

Then, the officials check them. If they are not always putting a gauge to them, what are they doing then? I think if it feels ok they let them use them as-is.

Pats tried to help the colts out by deflating the balls. 2nd half the balls were back to normal and ass kicking started. How I see Pats felt bad for the colts so they were trying to give them a shot.

NFL is to blame here. Don't let teams bring balls to the game. Let the Refs bring the balls and have a guy in control of the balls. its not that hard. Just like in MLB and the Ump doesn't like the ball he throws it away. Its really not that hard.

The one ball that was inflated was probably the only one that was checked properly, then said "fuck it" with the rest. :noidea:

... who seem to be the refs.
So you are now suggesting the refs deflated those balls to 2lbs below acceptable levels? :L

Man, wake the fuck up.

Whether it was an accident of some sort, or on purpose, it was NOT the refs that deflated them. Therefore it was not their fault.

If the refs really wanted the balls to be correct pressure, they would put a gauge in them.

Am I the only one that thinks the NFL wanted the QB's to get the balls the way they wanted them and did not gauge them because nobody cared?
They can solve this issue by gauging all the balls, or
by only officials holding the balls, or
by letting the QB's do whatever the hell they want with them.
Isn't that exactly what they have been doing?????

And how do you know this? Maybe Goodell doesn't want people to know that his officiating crew are a bunch of fuck ups! And nobody said they deflated them on purpose, but probably only inspected one ball properly. And with BB basically telling the league to "prove it", you would know damn well that they aren't hiding anything.

As per today's news,

1. It is the refs' responsibility to INFLATE them. There is no evidence that they carried out that responsibility.

2. Even if we assume, with no evidence, that they did it right, a drop to 10.5 PSI has already been explained, without anybody deflating the balls, and also without any saunas, hair dryers, space heaters, etc.

They already control the kicking balls because they were being manipulated. I heard or read somewhere that this rule came about in 2006. Before then both teams played with the same footballs. Now QBs want to make sure they are to their liking? Thus the reason they changed. Definite changes coming in the off season regardless of how this turns out.

There has been ZERO evidence provided about anything.

We don't know what Brady said was true.
We don't know what Belichick said was true.
We don't what the refs said to the NFL was true.

We don't even know what the exact sequence of events the refs followed that night.
So anyone who is ruling people out at this point are doing so just to tickle their on fancy and giving the facts the night off.

Since the Pats have a clear and proven history of cheating and bending the rules whenever and however possible I guess you can Say that the refs should have been on the lookout for all possible forms of cheating including letting air out of the balls.

That was a long time ago.

But the NFL (picking up flags) and your Cowboys (wining and dining NFL officials) have recent history of being shady as hell.

Over 24 hours since this thread was started, and still 0% proof the Pats did anything wrong.
