I guess I'm a little confused when it comes to designating a stadium as "world class" - I mean, is Anfield or even Old Trafford a world class stadium in 2022? Sure, they have the history and legacy which is undisputed, but aside from that, what else meets the criteria for being world class?

I agree but I think it starts with all goal ends of the field being visible from the stands.

I think playing in old shittier stadiums was absolutely fine for the World Cup until all the shiny new stadiums for Korea/Japan 02. After that, Germany used the 06 Cup to refurbish a shit ton of their stadia and the shitty FIFA grift-a-thon kicked into high gear for the next 4 tournaments so now every stadium needs to be new or improved.

That's an awful lot of money to be paying a 34yr old by the end of his contract. He might be ok this year and next but this looks like another high earner they won't be able to move on in a couple years when he's not performing.

That's true, though I'm not sure how he'll do once it's Fred and McTominay beside him rather than Luka Modric.
