Meh..I don't mind. I get to see them live twice next year..here in SF in June & across the bay in Oakland in August. All Good.

Looking forward to it.

Could be worse. At least they don't have to play games in Japan, England or Mexico.
And except for those 3 games in P.R. in late April, they're all here stateside.

Braves tried to give this one away......Lugo left out there for dead in the 7th.....And taking out Matz looks pretty bad right now...

Like I said, all the Mets needed was a trip to daddy's house for a dose of reality. AmIright, @bksballer89 ?

The next 2 weeks will determine if the Mets fans will have something to look forward to in September.

3 in KC this weekend. Must win 2 of 3.

Following that, they play 9 of 12 at home all against solid teams.

IMO they need to go at least 7-5....8-4 would be my goal though.

If they go 7-5 or 8-4 while winning 2 of 3 this weekend then that put them at 71-65 or 72-64 entering labor day. Basically should be right in the thick of things with a month left.

I agree they need to take 2 of 3 this weekend against the royals. Cuz the schedule isn’t going to be getting any easier

Mets had their cute little run.......too bad for them Daddy had to show back up and restore order

In all fairness though, Calloway making one of the worst moves of the year (by any team) was a big factor in the 2-1 series.

There was no reason to take out Matz.

Their was no reason for Snitker to take out Newcomb in the top of the 7th after 1hit when the Braves lead 1-0. It goes both ways.

Daddy took 2 of 3 so it’s all good

Not even close to the same...

Newcomb has been struggling as of late 9.95 ERA, .320 BAA in last 7 appearances), so it makes sense that he'd be on the short leash, especially when he's had problems all year with runners on base (when runners are on first, batters are hitting .353 with Newcomb this year).

Matz on the other hand was having a dominant outing, had only thrown 79 pitches, and has been pitching well as of late (2.87 ERA in last 5 starts).

Much more reason to take out a struggling reliever who has issues with runners on base than a starter who was cruising and has been pitching well as of late....

Also you don’t know how Matz does if left in. Braves are best offense in baseball in the 7th,8th, and 9th inning.

But you'd still trust Matz much more in the 7th inning than Newcomb given the way both have been pitching as of late, no?

Leaving Matz in was a no brainer with the way he was pitching, whereas yanking a struggling Newcomb certainly made sense.

After tonight, do you not agree that Newcomb should be on a short leash because he's shit when runners are on base?

Uh...no. Because the Mets are not the Dodgers. Newk got the first 2 he faced out easily last night.

Dodgers are our father
