I think he's selling the Pan Am Games a bit short too.

I know residents aren't real excited about it and that direct revenues are expected to be well short of what's being spent, but it's much harder to measure economic impact, and from what I've read, there's a few projects (like the UP Express) that people have wanted for a while but which only got the kick in the butt needed to get them off the ground because of the Games.
UPX would've happened regardless given the money the Libs are pouring into GTA transit right now. The UPX platform was part of the tender documents that went out for the Union Station reno back in 2009, prior to Toronto being awarded the games.

The money could've been spent so many other ways - the crumbling expressway comes to mind, as does a badly-needed Yonge Relief Line across downtown, or replacing old water mains, or burying power lines along College/Dundas/Queen/King instead of keeping those fucking telegraph poles up for another hundred years, or the costly project to re-route the Lower Don around the Unilever Site/Portlands, or turning GO Transit into rapid transit...

City didn't need this.

The Dutch are generally not a very good team. Don't let their run last year fool you - their defence is awful, they aren't much better in midfield and if it weren't for Huntelaar they wouldn't have diddly shit for finishing.

Sick wingers, though.

Gotta say you're spot on from what I've seen so far - I can only imagine how bad they would carve up this shitty US D if Robben was free on the wing.

This Canada/China women's game easily has more passes not completed than completed. Not sure how the possession stat will add up to 100% in this one.

The Germans look very good in Ottawa today (although Cote d'Ivoire defense is not only shambolic, it's non-existent)

What did everyone make of the CL Final? I thought the game was pretty even, Juve might feel hard done by that penalty non-call on Dani Alves that led directly to what wound up being the winning goal. Gigi probably deserved MOTM despite losing - he made some unbelievable saves.

It was funny watching Barca use a counter-heavy strategy after years of Barca fans saying that was a Madrid thing to do, though.

it was a good watch ... saw it at an unrelated street festival where an italian deli set up a big screen outside in the scorching hot sun lol ... Barca held possession which was expected ... Pogba getting bundled over should have been a penalty ... think Buffon could have done better on the Suarez goal ... not saying he could have caught it but possible parried it away from Suarez somehow :noidea: good effort by Juve

/this made me chuckle ... happy retirement to these two legends

Is Giovinco the best player in MLS? He's certainly making a good case.
