Quite the English comeback in the U20 semis. Could England actually *gasp* win something in international football?

I didn't get a quote on this one. But I did run into Jurgen Klinsmann on my flight back from Seoul and he indicated he was proud of the US U20 team.
When in doubt bet on German tears.

It's whatever. I think teams are taking the U21 setup far more seriously these days than the U20. Portugal's U21 team for next week's Euro is fucking stacked compared to the U20 squad they sent and Italy's team is, uh, not bad:

I'm sorry, but that's poor form.

The Saudi Arabian soccer team refused to line up for a minute's silence for the London terror victims on Thursday night because it is not in keeping with their culture.

A spokesman for Football Federation Australia explained they were told a minute of silence was 'not in keeping with Saudi culture' ahead of the match.

Fans were left outraged at the display ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Australia in Adelaide

Interesting that members of club team Al-Ahli - many of whose players represent the national side - stood motionless before a match against Barcelona to remember the footballers who died in the Chapecoense air disaster...

I’m speaking biasedly of course but that transfer is fucking hilarious. Porto had to sell Silva this year (as opposed to next summer when selling after a good World Cup performance could’ve netted them even more) because they got dinged by FFP.

Meanwhile, AC are spending like crazy (this transfer brings the summer spend to about 100 mil) because they got some Asian money and it’s totally kosher under FFP.

If the only purpose of FFP now is to hurt the smaller teams that might have a bad year or two financially by making them uncompetitive while these larger clubs get bought up by billionaires and spend handsomely why the hell is this system still in place? Whatever it was brought in to do it isn’t working.
