I will never understand the logic....

If you have a good thing going....and the NBA has a great thing going right now....

why would you fuck with it??????

I would be okay with a 10 minute per quarter game, but that would defeat the purpose with fewer time outs. These players in the best physical condition need those time outs. For the record, however changing the minutes will NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IN MY OPINION

WHAT WOULD HELP - would be to down size the games played in the regular season, by going through the schedule and eliminate the second game on back to back nights.

The second thing that I think would help would be to lengthen the season by one or two weeks. 17 back to back games for example could be slashed by half by having each team play some of those games in the extra two weeks. 3 and 3 the next week would atleast give the fans quality games that will matter. When I see the Spurs so tired they can barely run and are 15 points behind - who in heck is excited about that?

Don't like it. Seems like a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. For one, no really complains the games are too long. And if they are, take away some time outs (college definitely needs to do this). But they are claiming this is more for player health. Well then cut back the number of games. Plus, I don't think player health is really that big of an issue. Injuries will occur regardless but its not like every year we're dealing with tons of significant player injuries.

This is stupid.

The starters will still play the same amount of minutes.

Bench guys, role players will suffer.

Start the season earlier, eliminate back to backs, reduce number of time outs in the final 5 minutes, stop calling ticky tack fouls

Eliminating back to backs is stupid IMO. If you want to limit them fine but I do not agree with eliminating them

Well when the Miami Heat has to play Monday, Tuesday and then again Thursday and Saturday - for the most part you're going to end up not enjoying those second nights on back to back. I ran the numbers for part of the season last year teams win less then 37% of time in those situations. If you back those games up, the better teams will beat the worst teams on a regular basis.

A good point but this will never happen.

Back to backs are life in professional sports unless you're playing football. The good teams are good on B2B and the bad teams are not

Its funny with the nfl and nba. They'll do everything else but not cut games. Why? They will lose money.

Stupid idea.
Just the simple fact it would mess with all the stats is reason enough to not even consider it.
Is the NFL going to consider shortening their quarters to 12 minutes next to reduce the risk of concussion?

Yeah stats would be skewed, teams would barely if ever score above 100. Lame sauce

The average score would be in the 80s and 90s. Shitty teams would be in the 70s

I don't think the networks which just signed their new multi-billion dollar TV deal like this idea. Less advertising opportunities.

NBA players can handle 82 48-minute regular season games. These are elite athletes with elite training options and facilities. Injury risk will always be associated with sports. One less minute per quarter won't changed that fact.

Not the chosen one .

It makes me laugh how much the writers hang on his every word.

Guess that's what happens when you become the games best player, even when you continually try to take the path of least resistance. :noidea:
