I'm starting to buy what you are selling. It's hard to ignore.

Yea, we all thought it was something else at 1 point but near the end it became clear it was just Mac was a bad caoch.

Seems kind of pointless to fine him if he won't come get his paycheck in the first place.

Pointless yea, but I'm all forgiving people another "fuck you" when its deserved. If he can pay the fine, the NHL should find away to remedy it....hell, they fined us for signing a legal-at-the-time contract and then used to to close the loophole. Yep, still pissed, wont stop being pissed...

I really don't care. I'm just glad Nabby didn't end up in San Jose. There were many Sharks fans around the internets that were saying Nabby would be some kind of savior, when in reality, the Sharks need a savior (or three) on defense.

I understand what he is saying that at this point in his career that he wants to help a team win in the playoffs. He isn't going to do a damn thing for the Islanders this season.

That said he knew the rules when he came back and NYI is the team who picked him up. That is who he has to play for. If he really didn't want to I think that he should have worked it out with the GM like a professional, not like a petulant child (hanging up on him in mid conversation, really?).

What I don't get is why Nabby wouldn't take the time to get back into NHL game shape and use the rest of this season as a showcase for next years contract. The only thing that makes sense to me is that he really thinks he can get the Islanders to put him back on waivers.

Also even though I don't agree with his decision it is completely within his right to not play for any team he choses. It makes him a premadonna, but it is within his rights.

My thoughts are Nabokov should get on the plane & go to L.I.. If he doesn't he may never play in the NHL again. Because just like Radulov in Nashville the contract he signed with the Red Wings can carry over into next season & beyond.

If Nabby really wants to pick where he gets to play, he should join the NFL or NBA. Those players whine their asses off until they get what they want, and it normally works.

If Nabby really wants to pick where he gets to play, he should .... have made that decision when he was a UFA

It's pretty rare in any sport that player refuse to report to the team drafting or signing them, but do those sports have higher incidents of this than hockey?

Eric Lindros anyone?

Didn't Mario initially not want to report to the Penguins after they drafted him?

Little different...he didn't put the jersey on when they drafted him. A moment he has always said he regrets, and one, I believe, that was encouraged by his agent.

I guess you're right...the NFL is more about the player complaining their not getting enough money so they sit out of some offseason stuff until the team throws the right amount of money at him.

A lot of people may not remember but Scott Stevens didn't want to report to the devils and look how that worked out for him.however that was a different set of circumstances and he handled it a little more professionally .On the other hand nabby had an option of where he was going but he chose not to take it.And I can see where tilo is coming from hanging up on owners and whining to the media about the isles like its their fault instead of taking responsibility for his decisions is very reminiscent of something you see more often in nba and nfl players.

My thoughts exactly.

Yeah, I thought he was an asshole before...this confirms it. If he wanted to play for a good team then he should have thought of that before he ran to Russia for the money over the summer.

If he would have acted like a man and was open and honest with Garth Snow right off the bat then he wouldn't be in this current situation (like not hanging the phone up on the GM). I suspect he might have put him on waivers if that was the case. Instead, he acted like a crybaby and now he's being handled like one.
