Again, learn something every day.

If you don't have a reason to wake up..............................you won't.
This isn't realistic advice. I'm wired for learning with a very specific quality: curiosity. Plenty of people have it, but most don't.

It's hard to get someone who isn't curious to learn beyond necessity, and many won't even try to learn then.

To me, routines are a better driving point for getting up every day.

Routines are fine. Dogs love having daily routines, knowing what and when to expect things. Problem is when their routines are broken for any reason. They require time to adapt.

For humans, having a reason to greet each day, ensures hat one will aspire to throw off the covers and plant their feet firmly on the floor.

Today is a perfect example. Went to bed at 8:11 PM last night. Fuckin' weather station alarm went off at midnight. Unplugged it and went back to bed. Couple of deer walking in my back yard woke me again at 2:15 AM. Woke up this morning at 6:18 AM. Started the coffee and had a bowl of Raisin Bran. Watched the Celtics beat the Mavericks that I taped last night and can't wait for the NFL games to start at 3:00 PM.

Don't have to have a major reason, just a reason to swing those legs out from under covers.

Tomorrow, my solar pool cover is supposed to be delivered and my son is flying in from NH. Two more reasons.

Name something you want to accomplish and you either say "some day" and never do it, or say it's starts today and you start a routine and that routine will determine if you succeed. Want to learn guitar? You need a routine that includes practice and periodic introduction of new elements, techniques (or chords). Want to lose weight? You need a routine that includes eating the foods (and times if you are ambitious) that over time will carry you to your objectives.

You said "learn something new everyday". That doesn't happen without a routine to remind you of that mission each day.

Routines matter.

Reading through an article on MSN today, I was reminded of many things from the 60's
Though good and bad, I was brought to tears remembering the racial changes that were forced by my generation.
I lived through these changes but it still breaks my heart that as a free society, we were forced to make these changes.
Please take a moment to remember as most of us were there.....

Drop a sleeping mans hand in a bowl of water and get back to me.
I read the article this morning before I went in the shower. I thought about for the entire time I was under the spray, washing every square inch I could reach with my abnormally long 38" arms. I do not havethe scientific background to argue against what scientist have written or believe or have discovered.

I do have questions.

1. If humans cannot feel "wet", can humans feel dry?
2. If humans cannot feel wet, then is what we feel, an abstract?
3. I have severe neuropathy in both legs from my knees to my toes. I feel absolutely nothing. Yet the rest of my body feels something in the shower. Is that sense pressure resulting from the force of water hitting my body?

My final question.

If what I'm feeling stepping out of my 5'x8' handicapped accessible shower is not wet, then why do I "feel" dry after wiping off all of the residual water from my body with a 32" x 60", 100% cotton towel?? Or is the sense I feel, something other than dry??

Drop it on the floor and what happens?
Glass bowl or metal? Glass will break and metal will not. My auditory nerves will be able to tell the difference even though it is still just sound waves vibrating my malleus, incus and stapes before sending the sensations on to the cochlea blah blah blah. And if I happen upon it in the dark I will immediately whether I just stubbed my toe on the metal bowl or cut myself on the glass shards. Regardless, I will also know that I just put my foot, whether bare or in socks, in the recently spilled water.
I didn't make this up, you did read the link?
Yeah, I get it, there is not a specific nerve ending for wetness. But that does not mean we cannot feel it.

Different corpuscles send their respective signals to the brain and when certain signals add up, the brain knows it is wetness.
Regardless of whatever the article says, you are in you late 50's/60's/early 70's...you know what wet feels like. Hot, warm or cold. Regardless of what the article is trying to sell you.

I think that is the point of the article we associate wetness but we cannot physically feel it. I agree it's odd to understand but the science supports it.

If you go back to the article there are certain key words and phrases.

"The idea..."
"...we appear to..."
"...brain is thought to..."

An article about a twitter user commenting on a study does not make it science.

That seems a lot like most of the articles posted around this board.

When entering a public place or someone else's home does anyone else always look for the exits and any potential weapons?

My vibe is disappointment.

Heart went on tour a year ago and then cancelled...postponed... due to Anne being diagnosed with cancer.

I am glad the surgery was successful.

But now they are not stopping in Nashville. Knoxville is the closest.

4 hours away means an overnight and at least two meals.

$$ becomes $$$$ quickly.

I saw them in Seattle before they made the big time. I’m content with that.

I saw them in Manchester NH in the 80's and Virginia Beach VA in the 90's.

I would go see them again if they hit Nashville, unfortunately the last two times they were here I was already planned to travel elsewhere.
