I have to make a speech at my friend's wedding this weekend. This shit is tough man. Trying to be witty, funny, reminiscent and sincere all at the same time is difficult. My first draft I sent to a friend of mine for review and she said it was basically like a roast and I didn't mention any redeeming qualities about him. I thought that was standard?

i would be awful at it. Takes a lot of time and rough drafts. Pretty much you have to say all of his best qualities, compliment his bride and be funny at the same time. Fuck that

It should be a roast with one sincere redeeming quality at the end, kinda like a no, but seriously statement. Yes, you should also say something nice about the bride and depending on how much you know her one playful joke about her is also recommended. Finally if you know the parents, praising them somehow is a great idea...
