That Cizikas is a heck of a player, he's got a motor that just won't quit. One of those "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog" type of guys.

It was 2-0 Owen Sound after 1, but Kootenay has scored 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd and now lead 3-2 about half-way through the second.

whatever d-man Eakin beat on that shorthanded goal (the one that tied it at 2) should go straight to beer leagues. that was awful.

-2 through 2

update; eakin with another (off of another OS turnover) 5-2 now

I actually didn't see it. I tuned in and it was just going to intermission and I caught the score. Then I didn't feel like listening to Kypreos so I switched to something else and sort of got distracted then by the time I switched back they just made it 3-2. 5-2 now. The Owen Sound coach is going to be criticized quite severely for switching to 1 of his other goalies for this game I think.

funny you should mention it... he just sniped #6.
another powerplay turnover at the blueline for OS, sets up a 2 on 1, and Max was the triggerman.

Halmo scores on the PP a minute later, so it's 6-3, about 15m left

Eakin seals it with an empty netter, and Owen Sound is the first team to go home.
7-3 with 2m to go.... rough stuff at every whistle now.
Mark Reeds (OS coach) is going to have to answer for staring Stajcer in place of Binnington - who has had the best stats throughout the tourney.

Kootenay to face Mississauga tomorrow.

Caps have a pretty decent prospect on the Sea Dogs in Stanislav Galiev. Will they meet in the finals?

Ah, that's right. I had kinda forgoten about Galiev, but I think it'd be really fun to see that. They'll most likely be teammates next season in Hershey anyway, why not get more acquainted by playing on a big stage.

One of those roughings was offset by Czerwonka, so someone else served that 2?
I think a distinction is made between a double minor for roughing (ie... serve 4 minutes) and two distinct penalty calls at the same stoppage (even if they are both for rouging).

that's the only theory I can come up with, anyways.

You might be right, I'm not sure if there's any kind of distinction. Just seemed weird.

Great win from Kootenay tonight. The team from the 2nd period on is the one that blew through the WHL playoffs. They still aren't at their best, they had some defensive lapses and bad penalties, but for the most part they were very impressive over the last 40 minutes. I feel kind of bad for Owen Sound. They were pretty beat up.

Hopefully Kootenay will knock out Mississauga next and make the final a matchup of league champions. Kootenay can definitely take out the Majors if they bring their game from the final 40 tonight for all 60 tomorrow.

This - I don't like Dave Cameron (head coach of Mississauga), the guy is this close to having a coronary behind the bench.
