2-0 Attack late in the 2nd period. The Owen Sound goalie has played an outstanding game.

I will just say that I really like the Sea Dogs uniforms...

This is only the 2nd season with those uniforms and I have to agree. The old ones weren't too bad and it was the same logo but the new ones are much improved.

Guess I could have read the thread last night as there were no spoilers in it! Nice to see Matt Kirk making a fool of himself on the national stage. That's really the guy they sent? As bad as the officiating is in the WHL there are a few good ones and Kirk is not on the list. Oh well.

Exciting game. Lots of back and forth, the Saint John power play is deadly. Kootenay and Owen Sound would do well to not take penalties against them. Looking forward to tonight's game. Hopefully the Ice can get a leg up and then put another dagger into the hosts tomorrow. It's been awhile since the WHL champion lost their first game at the Memorial Cup (2006 I believe was the last time that happened) so Kootenay needs to keep that streak going. Go ICE!

Saint John's powerplay can be hot and cold. It was definitely clicking last night.

I was really glad to see 20 year old Michael Kirkpatrick have a huge game. He has had a few pro rookie camp invites but is undrafted, mostly due to his size. This could be he last chance to impress some scouts and hopefully get signed to a minor pro deal.

Brayden McNabb with a huge hit on Colorado draft pick Joey Hinson (forearm/elbow to the head). That will be reviewed and perhaps a suspension for McNabb is in the offing.

3-0 Owen Sound late in the 3rd...

5-0 Owen Sound final (two late PP goals for the Attack).

Kootenay plays Mississauga tomorrow night and need to bounce back in a strong way.

Good to hear about the huge hit but if he makes the big team next year along with Kassian they may be suspended half the time.

The Sabres will be a lot more physical next year because Myers was also showing a mean streak as the season went on. Along with Goose. Cody Mc and Kaleta that team is not going to be fun to play against.

Disappointing game for the Ice all the way around. That was not the team that won 11 playoff games in a row and 15 of 16 to take the WHL title. Credit to Owen Sound though they were good tonight. They gave Kootenay very little time to make plays, they won the puck battles in front of both nets and Binnington was very good. Hard to believe he's just 17.

Sad to see McNabb elbow Hishon in the face. That's not the type of player Brayden is and I know it was just frustration, but he should be suspended for that. That was a very nasty hit.

Two 0-1 clubs going at it tomorrow. Needless to say it's a huge game. Hopefully the Ice can rebound and put the hosts in the 0-2 hole. If Kootenay loses with Saint John left to play, I think you can just about kiss their chances goodbye.

Amazing that Hishon stayed on his feet immediately after the hit. He almost made it back to the bench.

Mississauga just defeated Kootenay 2-1. The Ice are in deep deep trouble and need to beat Saint John on Tuesday to have any chance at the Memorial Cup.

Stick a fork in em. Too bad really. Rooting for Saint John now. Yeah I still would like to see Kootenay beat the Sea Dogs and at least make it to the tiebreaker, but I don't see it. Hard to believe this is the same team that rolled through the WHL playoffs. They aren't even close to the same level now. Gotta think Portland, Medicine Hat and Spokane all would have put up better fights than this.

Yeah, this is not even close to the same team I watched roll through the WHL playoffs. Maybe I'm not giving enough credit to Owen Sound and Mississauga, but Kootenay has been outskated in both of their games quite badly. Outworking Saskatoon, Medicine Hat, and Portland was how they got here.

Eakin was everywhere. He just couldn't put the puck in the net. The Caps got themselves a steal. No points for Cizikas, but I don't really care. His team won that's all that matters. Ducks 2nd rounder Smith-Pelly is a big kid, but he needs to work on his skating.

Does anyone else think Dave Cameron could be the next coach for the Senators? The Sens owner seems to like him.

I thought it was an okay game but both teams looked meh. Kootenay was flat and the majors were sloppy imo. I gotta think the final is going to be Owen sound/st john

If Saint John wins tonight then they clinch a bye to the finals. So tomorrow nights game will be somewhat meaningless. I'm sure they'd still rather win but they might give a few players some rest and won't be playing with the same urgency as the Ice.

As expected Hishon is out of the lineup tonight for the game against the Sea Dogs as a pre-caution. Tough break for him and the Attack.

After 2 periods Owen Sound is leading Saint John 2-1. The Dogs can't seem to stay out of the penalty box with most calls being good calls from what I can tell. Many of the penalties being of the unnecessary variety, including 3 minors by Simon Despres. Sea Dogs have the momentum though after getting the only goal of the 2nd period and after killing off a lengthy 5 on 3.
