The Rams should work on a long-term contract extension for Donald and Olgetree. Cut the little turd Austin who is a complete bust and take his money and lock-up these two for the next 5 years or so.

Sorry Retro we are stuck with the turd because of the stupid contract the Rams just gave him. this will make you sick but he will make 15m next year :L:L The only way he goes is if we trade him but no way another team would be that dumb to take on his contract.

Well, Cougie, if we package him with say a fourth rounder to a team in the draft to move up and take a good LT, some team may bite.

Not surprising with this front office. Don't forget that this is the same team that traded a bunch of picks for the ability to draft a QB with the first pick to play behind a horrible offensive line along with lousy WRs. Almost like they're setting him up to fail from the get go.

They are rewarding a guy that has accomplished absolutely nothing! He has never even reached more than 500 rec yards since he's been drafted! :L

Tavon Austin: Career Stats at NFL.com

I understand that our coaching has been bad and he has not been utilized properly. But I also know that he has dropped MANY passes! Our Qb will never do well when he has knuckleheads like this to throw to! It just makes me sick! :L

Whom ever our next coach (and hopefully new GM will be), they need to take a long look at these recent contracts and try to get them to renegotiate or just plain cut ties with these non producers and eat the dead money to set an example for the team. Cut their ass and start over!

No doubt. I thought it was idiotic to pay that salary to a guy that's basically fast and immature. If it were me, I'd dock him at least $10k every time he did that high stepping bullshit out of bounds and keep upping the fine every time he did it to send a message.

Spot on UVA and Zeke. I am in 100% agreement at the absolute incompetent, bullshit, ridiculous, fantasy-based, nonsensical, irresponsible manner in which Snisher rewarded a guy that has been a complete and utter failure after we passed by so may great selections to take him in the draft! Talk about utter stupidity and just plain foolishness to sign Tavon Austin to that contract all the while whiffing on so many players over the years with the most recent being McCleod and Janoris Jenkins. The level of make-believe and altered reality based decision-making on the part of Snisher boggles the imagination beyond any sense of logical and responsible reasoning!

What pissed me off more than anything is that we traded up eight spots to get a guy that was essentially another Ted Ginn Jr. Like you said, there were numerous players we could've taken at either slot that would've made more of a difference in games than he did.

I agree UVA. More stupid moves in a long string of boneheaded stupidity over five years.

After next season, his cap hit is between 8 and 9.5 million for the balance of the contract. In fact, most of next year's hit is a guaranteed roster bonus. Rams could potentially trade him after they pay that roster bonus (if they wanted to eat that money for a player no longer on the team). The only guaranteed money on Austin's contract is that $11.5m roster bonus (already guaranteed), his 2017 $3.5M base salary (guaranteed on 3/11/17) and his 2018 roster bonus of $5M (guaranteed the 3rd league day of 2018. Really, he has a big money year next year then can be cut without penalty.

Yea, Shopson. I get the details. He isn't worth any of it. They should package him in this upcoming draft and cut their losses ASAP or we will be screwed-again.

I can't imagine anyone taking him for a $15M season. Rams are likely stuck with him at least for next year, but at least this would give a new HC and OC a chance to utilize him properly. As much as that contract stinks, trading him away and having him become a star under proper coaching would be infuriating, especially since the Rams would likely have to eat that $11M+ roster bonus to move him.

It the proverbial 'Good money, after bad' only thing is fellas, it's not our bad money..

In other words, it's a lot easier for us to 'cut ties' with our team investments since we have no financial vested interest in seeing the prospect through....

That'll likely be up to the next coach we hire...Which is funny since he'll be the one to help hire the new coach...
You are right if we hire a tenured or retread as they can have their say a lot of the times.

If we hire a current OC or DC they will most likely be willing to work with what we've got for the opportunity to move into an HC position.
