Terrible trade IMO.

That’s the best they could do for Russell? And they unloaded Lewis and (3) 2nd round picks.

Lewis is unplayable and 2 of the 2nds are 2030 and 2031 (and I believe protected?). 2nds that far out are easy to replace over the next 6 years or so. Milton is also a useful depth player. I like the trade but would change that to love had they rolled Sharpe into it in place of Milton.

DFS is essentially a combo of Rui and Vando, a 3 pt shooter and solid defender (not quite to Vando level on d of course, but Vando is becoming more myth than player due to injury).

I hope he gets there DJ.

The Lakers need it because their defense sucks, and that’s with Davis having a great season on D.

Their defense sucks, they add a 3&D wing for notoriously bad defender DLo and you don't like the deal?

Still need to add a PG and a big, but this trade is a solid start.

Y'all are idiots....

DFS was shooting 44% from 3 and will be a super sub off the bad bench.....he can also play small ball C on the 2nd unit.....Milton is a nice addition to a weak bench.

When Vandy and Wood come back they will help strengthen what has been a bad bench....unless Rob makes another trade with those 2, JHS and a 1st or 2.

Not trading the 1st rounders in the Russell trade was a big win.

Yeah, DFS allows more rest for Lebron as well. I expect Rui to continue to start for now, but I could him flipping with DFS depending on the matchup. Rui could also be traded if the Lakers want to make a sizeable move with 1 or more of those firsts.

Would love to see a trade for either Richards or Kessler (if they can get a good price from Utah). Neither costs much salary wise, Richards is probably a 2nd or two, but Kessler is at least 1 first (maybe a first and remove protections from the pick Utah got in the Westbrook trade?)...

If they open up a roster spot, maybe Dennis Smith Jr is a worthy addition for depth at PG with the loss of DLo.

Yeah, adding DFS helps in a lot of ways.....I don't get not liking this deal, especially since they gave up 3 2nd rounders and no 1st rounders. 2nd rounders are easily attainable.....the Lakers have a history of buying those....

Velacipator on the Wizards is still very much in play.

And Milton is a solid player off the bench, especially if they add Vincent to a deal....like Hachimura or Vandy.

Milton averaging 11.2ppg and 3apg in his last 9 games with the Nets. And another good shooter....

And the Nets turned down a deal from Memphis involving a 1st rounders so like most NBA pundits are saying.....this was a win for the Lakers.

Well dude, it is obvious you like this deal but if the Lakers move Hachimura instead of dead weight like Vanderbilt, Wood, and Hood-Schifino then it would be a stupid deal because they are not getting better with what is returning by moving Hachimura due to the belief that DFS is a combo Hachimura/Vanderbilt player.

DRuss was a bit of liability on defense and to some extent his production was declining but to now think that getting DFS is going to make Hachimura expendable when Hachimura is just beginning to be a good player is stupid thinking and would be a bad idea to move him because they now have DFS!

We shall see if DFS and Milton make a difference tonight as the Cavs come to town.

DTF is a combo Rui/Vando, but not the overall upside of either in their strengths. However, he similarly does not have the weaknesses of either.

DLo was always going to be a trade chip, it's what is contract was set up to be. His role was shrinking of late, even off the bench. I like DLo a lot, but it just wasn't working out. Having both DLo and Austin (both subpar defenders) in the same backcourt is too big of a negative (even if they don't both start). Lakers aren't moving Austin without getting a superstar back, so DLo it is. Austin's contract is very cheap for another year; that next contract may change their views on trading him.

Rui is only expendable if the right deal comes along. He's the next biggest contract, so he'll be mentioned. If they want to trade for a sizeable contract ($20M of more), that means Rui and possibly Gabe. Gabe is tougher to trade now unless they make a move for a PG (and might need 2 if they do so).

Vando is near impossible to move with 2 more years and a player option left on his contract. Luckily, he was at practice doing non-contact workouts yesterday, so maybe he gets back on the court in January. Wood was working out with coaches after the practice, so at least he's progressing too.

Difficult to expect too much with only a single practice with the team, but hopefully they contribute. Sounds like Gabe is out, so Milton could get some run in that role (would like to see some Olivari minutes too). Hayes will be back tonight.

And Christie starting with Reaves gives them some defense....Knecht 4 off the bench helps our scoring there.

I think they could in fact trade Hachimura with Vandy and possibly JHS....that's 34-35 mill plus a 1st, maybe 2 1st rounders if they found the right guy to add, but not just for anybody....have to be a guy who could be a difference maker. Vandy isn't impossible to move because when healthy he is a good defender.....

I think the Lakers should stop while they are ahead.
