A lot of the scenes in this show are directly pulled from scenes in the game, like this one. This scene was part of a DLC.

Ellie's sexuality isnt mentioned once in the first game IIRC. Joel is the main character for 80% of the game. Sarah and Ellie have one section IIRC with Ellies being a bit bigger. The dlc is about Ellie.

Ellie liking women is important for the remainder of the series, though.

This is clearly an IP that has gotten more diverse as its gone along.

Sorry, but in this last episode, the gay aspect added zero. It's just a kiss, nothing to be outraged about, but what was the point?

People can be friends, really love each other, without needing to be gay.


Episode was still good, but to me it was the weakest so far.

We are not worrying about it, we are really enjoying this show.

Too bad that we'll have to wait basically 2 years for Season 2. HBO are knocking it out of the park lately, several great shows.

Yeah on HBO right now, I think I'm up to date on everything. I already watched HotD and Winning Time this year. Succession is also really good. Rick & Morty, Harley Quinn, Also, I finally watched Chernobyl, I don't know why I sat on it for a couple of years.

now you have Joel lying to Ellie because he is selfish and acted without thinking about how she felt.

so she could potentially save mankind but it would take her death to achieve it...

basically the trolley question about saving a person you love vs a bunch of people you don't know.

I don't think it was selfish on Joel's part.
He's doing what he thought was best to protect Ellie after Ellie just went through a traumatic experience.

Ask yourself this, would Joel have taken up this task if he knew what was going to happen to Ellie at the hospital?

he had Tess when he took up the task. Had Tess not died...I think he would have.

but since he is alone now, Ellie is all he has.

Joel definitely softened as the season went on.

No matter how much he might have 'softened', he certainly wasn't soft when he went to find Ellie in the hospital.

He did better than me, I died like 3 times on that level and don't even get me started on that true survivor playthrough or whatever that add on difficulty was called.

The combat difficulty was not the issue for me in that. It was the lack of supplies and ammo! I am not the best shot so I would run out of ammo constantly.
