A little disjointed but not totally unremarkable. Seemed like it could've gone deeper. Still a decent flick for what is basically a social commentary.

Comet
I usually hate Justin Long, but I might watch this somewhat odd movie again. Interesting take on a love story.

Gone Girl
Really liked it. I'd been prepared for the shit ending so it wasn't as frustrating as it would have been if I hadn't already heard it was terrible.

It isn't as old as The Best Years of Our Lives but I was watching The Good, the Bad and the Ugly not long ago and my wife just didn't understand the long periods of zero dialog and the scenes of just the camera panning the extended landscape with just the music playing. The long scene of Tuco running around the graveyard at the end with one of the best movie songs ever written playing. Just don't see that in movies these days. I told her she needs to watch the entire movie in 1 sitting to understand. Makes the audience actually think and get a better feel of the landscape the movie is taking place in.

GBU is a GREAT movie. No CGI anywhere to be seen either.

And classically BAD audio editing.

Amazing that one the unquestioned greatest movies ever has one aspect that was done badly to that level. However, I think the bad dubbing actually added to the charm. I would HATE to see that movie with the sound fixed. Something would not feel right.

The key characters are OK. The others not so much.

But you are right, it would be like seeing a colourized It's a Wonderful Life.

Sort of like when I got my first CD of an album I'd had on vinyl.

I'd be waiting for that critical "pop" and it just wasn't there....

Arbitrage with Richard Gere. Man, I'd love to be a smooth as Gere is at 65! Very good movie!

Saw "Divergent" on HBO over the weekend.

Better than I was expecting, but the whole "Adults just don't understand and the kids have all the answers" undertone was a bit thick.

Watch it with the brain turned off, and you will enjoy it.

It's a juvenile literature book, like harry potter, twilight, and hunger games. Appealing to the 12-16 bunch is the only thing that got them all eventually turned into movies in the first place.

I was browsing Netflix, deciding whether or not I wanted to watch the Wall Street Wolf, and I stumblled across a movie I hadn't seen in years: "2 Days in the Valley". This movie is an overlooked gem with James Spader brilliantly playing a psychotic killer. Danny Aiello, Jeff Daniels and a bunch of notables in a great cast.

Not to mention a 23 year old HOT Charlize Theron. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

The Family with Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer. Was a decent dark comedy I thought.

Went to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 last night. It wasn't bad and definitely does a good job setting up the finale in part 2.

Watched The Big Lebowski again. My GF hadn't seen it all the way through. One of my all time favorite movies. So many great lines.

Saw Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1, it was okay. Will this story ever completely end? Or will there be a Mockingjay part 4, 5, 6?

I saw the Hobbit in Imax. Yes The Battle of the Five Armies means that there will be a LOT of fighting but it was pretty good. It went along pretty fast which is a compliment with these films.

Some other thoughts:

The cinematography is excellent which may seem like an odd thing to say but it was visually a great looking film.

Martin Freeman is a really good Bilbo.

Amazing actor.

Hard to imagine that is the game guy who drove Miss Daisy all those years ago...

I got to see "American Sniper"...trailor looks good for it.

So much football on of late I haven't seen a movie in awhile.

I am excited for this one. Does it cover his death as well, or only his service time?
