For all the hype Schultz is getting he better be worth it.

I hate the Wheeler rule. Last year the Islanders lost to guys they selected in 2007.

F Jason Gregoire signed with the Jets.
D Blake Kessel signed with the Flyers.

I hope the next CBA does something about it.

so the next countdown continues - he is a free agent on Wednesday.
leaders believed to be:
Edm (can play right away)
Tor (centre of universe)
Van (hometown kid)

you've got to think it hurts Edm's recruiting package that they don't have a coach right now.
well that, and the fact that it's Edmonton.

Ottawa - Can play right away and get tons of easy points by finishing Karlsson passes. :eyebrows:

A little birdie telling me the Canucks are in real deep on Justin Schultz. This is news to no one -- but makes perfect sense.

Reports are that Schultz wants to play in Canada. Hearing Vancouver.

I wonder how good the evidence is of tampering the Ducks claim they have?

:heh:

This kid looks good from youtube videos, but man is he ever hyping himself for a potentially big fall.

i think the thing about Schultz is that scouts and gms have actually seen him play in person whereas for Brunnstrom teams were getting all moist over him because they saw him in a grainy video that also featured JFK getting shot in the head

lol. Yeah, the kid looks good, that's for sure. I just remember getting bummed out when the Sharks weren't the first choice for Brunnstrom or Gustavsson (supposedly the Sharks were in the running for their services, but who knows). That said, you're right, I'm sure there's a much bigger book on Schultz than there was on the other two gentlemen.

It's just hard enough to make an impact at the NHL level without any fanfare, yet alone the stir this kid is creating for himself. If he goes to a Canadian team and struggles, I can just imagine the beat hockey writers having a field day with his high maintenance profile so far.

I guess I don't really like this. Reminds me of international signings in baseball. Throwing money at someone when you have no idea what they bring to the major league game. Just has flop written all over it.

big meh

whats the difference between whats going on with Schultz and the nhl entry draft .. any draft pick can flop ... Bob mac said this morn he would have been a top 5 pick if he was in this years draft ... he's bound by the max on entry level contracts so its not like he will be getting Parise or Suter dollars ... he would be getting paid like any other high end draft choice

the only difference with Schultz is every team has a shot at him and he gets to choose where he goes now
