No, dates are to be remembered, revered. If they are not remembered, they will be repeated.
Why not remember the moment and situation? As in, "This was the end of the first round in 2003 for the Jazz".

That's what you did before.

This video tells everything.

We, of course, would do both. We wouldn’t say to remember 9/11, but not the twin towers.

In fact, I don’t associate April 30 as the sad day. I recognize May 2nd because that’s when Stockton said this: ✂️ Stockton’s Retirement Announcement

I was working and walked past the TV when this was on. It was (and is) my sister’s birthday so I blame her.

Did I miss it? I didn't see a Stockton hard pick on Barkley, in that 2 minute, 1 second clip.

I like the Hornacek pass to Stockton.

How come JazzBasketball always talks about the 1997 conference finals and 1998 NBA Finals? They never talk about the 1997 NBA Finals or the 1998 conference finals. Or in general, the 6 series during the two seasons that aren't the 1997 conference finals or 1998 NBA Finals.

I'm more interested in learning tidbits about the other six series, because due to the increase in online media content, I can learn more about those series now, then when I was watching during those years.

It was from 12 seconds to 26 seconds into the video. I think someone could argue about being in the way versus being a pick, but that’s what they’re talking about.

Thanks.

I don't think those are picks, because he's not stationary. I think it's more accurate to say that Stockton drew a foul.

Also, to me, if it were a screen, Stockton would have been in between Barkley and the ball. Instead, he was behind Barkley.

Why was Stockton behind Barkley anyways, on a Utah offensive possession?

It doesn't look like he was trying to cut for a layup.

Finally, some good information about one of the other series during that 2 year span, the 1998 conference finals.

The Jazz Are The Best Team In Sports.

They have the best 3-point % in conference finals history, going 16/30, .533.

@MHSL82, does this stat make you happy?

It does to me.

Here’s what I posted in another thread:

According to my research, Stockton played 8 games without Malone:

11-2-1985: 12 points, 7 Assists (27 min)
4-21-1989: 19 points, 20 Assists (42 min)
4-22-1989: 10 points, 10 assists (24 min)
12-17-1991: 13 points, 13 assists (35 min)
4-12-1999: 12 points, 11 assists (23 min)
3-15-2002: 14 points, 10 assists (34 min)
4-5-2002: 20 points, 10 assists (35min)
11-6-2002: 10 points, 6 assists (28 min)

10.8 career assists per game without Malone. 10.5 career assists per game.

I wonder what it is with Malone without Stockton? I think Stockton helped Malone a lot versus a regular point guard.

I told you, all anyone talks about are the 1997 conference finals and 1998 NBA Finals.

There's 6 other Jazz series in that span.

I'm glad to have learned something cool about the 1998 conference finals. There's still more to be learned, from those other 6 series.

And if you're going to talk about that, at least talk about the assister: Bryon Russell.

That tweet should read "Byron Russell with the game winning assist!"

And talk about what immediately preceded it: The Rockets took a field goal attempt, and Karl Malone got the defensive rebound.

They Jazz did not get Derrick Whited.

Malone probably had to fight off two Rockets to get the rebound too.

That's why they call him the mean one.
