That was kind of my point. I think affirmative action is discrimination, born as a necessity to combat others' discrimination, but would be unnecessary if those questions weren't on applications.

I agree with you on the first part that affirmative action was born of necessity. However, I don't think it's entirely based on the questions being on an application.

The University of Chicago and MIT did a study a few years back where they found that a person with a black-sounding name was 50% less likely to get selected for a job interview based on the submission of their resume.

I personally am a big proponent of the idea of the best (wo)man for the job should get it in all cases, but I also understand that the need for things like affirmative action.

I dont... If someone can prove that a place is hiring based on race and not quality of the employee, then the person who feels they were wrongfully treated should bring it up and that company should be handled properly. But to say that because racism exists affirmative action must be enforced... It is just an extension of racism.

Also, I don't care if an athlete is gay. I actually have seen that rugby player on TV recently and his story is very touching. He says he had no problems with his teammates but it's probably because they had gotten to know him as a person first and they loved him as a friend. And it couldn't hurt that he is really, really good at rugby.

I would guess baseball would be the easiest. Least risk of physical repercussions, not to mention chemistry is overrated in baseball. It's an individual sport disguised as a team sport.

They're running away from SARS, I guess they can use any vehicle to do that. They get a pass.

Some of those are mopeds. Which are not scooters. I repeat, MOPEDS ARE NOT SCOOTERS.

Theres ALOT of teamwork in baseball. Its just more mental, like almost everything baseball, than physical. Hitting the cutoff man, turning double plays, foot races to a base, and obviously a catcher knowing his pitchers' pitches. And thats just the defensive side, I didnt even get in to working the count or a better helping a runner steal a base.

I am a straight male and could care less. I would have no problem wearing his jersey if he was on my team.

And I got banned here for being progressive and openly acknowledging that hockey was the gayest sport in America.
