The game featuring the G5 team in the NY6 really loses its appeal when the G5 team isn't undefeated.

I think they need to add a qualifier to the rule.

If there are no undefeated G5 teams, there is no automatic bid.

Penn State-Alabama or Penn State-Utah would have had much more appeal.

Penn State just won the Cotton Bowl and my opinion of them changed zero.

The G5 teams agreed to the current terms. They aren't changing unless you give them a bigger slice

Expecting perfection just to give them a shot is ridiculous being perfect is near impossible to do in college football

you could argue that Penn State/Utah would only draw marginally more eyeballs than Penn State/Memphis

I guess the Citrus bowl is a major bowl, but it's not in the CFP rotation, and certainly lower in the pecking order than the Cotton Bowl.

Will your opinion of LSU change if they beat Oklahoma?

i just edited my post, i agree the Citrus Bowl isn't really a major bowl. it's more of a Tier 2 bowl.

i haven't really been paying a lot of attention to the bowls outside of the CFB Playoff bowls, so i saw "Alabama/Michigan" and assumed NYD bowl

More absurd two class nonsense.

Want it to not be a two class system? Then make G5 schools get bigger donors and a more passionate fan base.

It's played on NYD this year, but isn't a part of the NY6.

Speaking of Citrus Bowl, Spurrier having one liners like "You can't spell Citrus without UT" is why it's impossible to hate him now that he's not coaching anymore.

Well, it doesn't help that Penn State struggled.

I guess you could say they struggled, but my biggest takeaways from the game was Memphis couldn't do anything to even slow down Micah Parsons and every time Penn State ran the ball they were getting big chunks.

Really, Memphis was fortunate to "only" lose by 14 points.

Yeah, that's what I meant

looks like I'm struggling with specificity in this thread

I don't care how many fans or money anyone has.........You have to start with a fair system and allow everyone to succeed or fail on those grounds first.

PSU looked very much like a James Franklin team.

In a system where the big money schools obviously have the most resources to pay the best coaches and build the best facilities and attract the best recruits, @wazzu31 has a valid point and essentially makes what you're hoping for impossible.

No it wouldn't. What a stupid statement. It was the highest scoring Cotton Bowl in history. Memphis was in the game until the interception at the 2 yard line with 5 minutes left. Memphis higher attendance for home games than Utah. With the Memphis loss, the G5 is now 3-3 in the NY6.

App State wouldn't have allowed 400 rushing yards.

Just sayin.

No it doesn't. I'm talking about the actual rules of the competition. I'm not suggesting you can make those things equal.
