Found this in an article over at Fangraphs...

Nick Williams is slashing .371/.456/.725 with the Mexican League’s Toros de Tijuana. The 28-year-old former Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox outfielder has homered 29 times in 365 plate appearances.

Before the season only three of us guessed at the record for this season in the season prediction thread. The guesses were 74, 77, and 80 wins. Mine was 77-85.

I guessed 74. I think that's a best case scenario at this point.

So after going absolutely apeshit at the trading deadline, the Padres get swept by the Dodgers this past weekend, getting outscored 20-4.

Also, it seems that since the Gallo trade, the Yankees have not won a game and the Dodgers have not lost a game.

Each team's biggest question after Trade Deadline

Rangers: Will the veteran pitchers earn extensions?

The Rangers shocked everybody by not trading veteran lefties Martín Pérez and Matt Moore at this year’s Deadline, noting their importance to the club both on and off the field. But even more notably, neither was handed an extension afterwards. Both are on expiring contracts and have told the front office their desire is to remain in Texas, but it’s clear that they’ll have to earn it down the stretch this season. Now more than 10 games out of the third Wild Card spot, the Rangers have set their sights on 2023 and beyond. That’ll start with addressing the pitching, both internally and externally. -- Kennedi Landry

I wonder if Colby Lewis has the Rangers spoiled and they want Perez to work year by year like Colby did.

I would imagine Martin wants a 3 or 4 year deal.

I don't know what it would take to get folks fired.

I believe that is very close to what I expected, maybe a little below. O am not sure about others' expectations. Some fans can be very unrealistic when it comes to expectations.
will firing people resolve the issues of both bad starting and bullpen pitching? the only way is for the FO do something

Trades in theory can be good but in reality are bad. Guessing the Mike Trout draft was brilliance or perhaps a bit of luck.

It is ok to critique but so easy to do in retrospect
Think about Adolis. He has been good to bad to good. And we sure don’t know his future.
So much is on the player and sometimes just physical health just like Bubba said

I certainly hope they don't bring up a year to year deal in negotiations. In this market, Martin's agent should have no trouble at all getting him 3 years guaranteed.

I agree.

What happens when you critique at the time of the trade or at the time of the signing or at the time of the draft, you are told to wait and see how it works out. There is always someone on each end to tell you it is the wrong time to critique. Lol

That is why I stand by my critique of our trade for Cole Hamels, even though those prospects didn't pan out. I go by their worth at the time of the trade.

Alfaro is still an open book and If we did not have such a deep farm Brinson would be tempting

Well universal DH now so the playing field has been equaled

This is why I never wanted Kershaw. Too risky

I didn't mind signing him this past offseason. If he missed a few games this year and next it would be no big deal to us. Look how many Gray has missed and we are going to be fine.
