Did we ever find out why Nick Martinez was removed from the Padres rotation in late June when he was doing fairly well?

Clevinger came back from the IL

It looks like they were both in the rotation in some of May and early June.

I wonder if he will opt out after this year to catch on somewhere as a starter and make a little more money.

We do have a guy in our system who could be stretched out enough to go 5 innings by the beginning of September I would think. He has limited experience as a big league starter, but with an ERA as a starter below 2.00 in the big leagues.

Who?

He’s looking good so far this year.
Crazy he never pitched at AA or AAA..
Went from A ball straight to the bigs..
Hopefully we have something there

Seems they have shuffled quite few starters through in order to get an idea of a set rotation possibly. Guess they could have just needed the BP help more or thought he was better suited for that role

Must be nice to have a guy with an ERA right at 4.00 and not need him in the rotation.

Sure would have been nice to sign him in FA instead of counting on Howard, who's trying to keep his ERA under 8

I saw where he struck out 5 of the 7 batters he faced last night.

he has pitched in 13 games in 2021 and 2022. he threw in 7 games in 2021 before undergoing debridement surgery of the labrum in his right shoulder which cost him the 1st half of the 2022 season. he has thrown in 6 games (7.2 innings) as a reliever in the Rookie league. there is no way he could be ready by September to step into a starting position here
