No More "Bullpen Failure"
Jeff Wilson mentions in his newsletter than Spencer Howard and Dallas Keuchel are on the same schedule.
Did we ever find out why Nick Martinez was removed from the Padres rotation in late June when he was doing fairly well?Speaking of offseason topics, Suzuki has cooled off considerably since his very hot start.
We have 6. Evan Carter is now our highest ranked prospect according to BA.BA came out with their new Top 100 Prospects list today. I wonder how many we have on their list?
Might as well throw Keuchel into the rotation.Jeff Wilson mentions in his newsletter than Spencer Howard and Dallas Keuchel are on the same schedule.
The current rotation is Dunning, Perez, Otto, Howard, Ragans. Ragans had a promising debut but is already 14 innings beyond last year, so he could be shut down with fewer than the 10-11 additional starts he'd accrue as a permanent rotation member. Otto has reached at least four innings in seven straight starts but is hovering around replacement level. Howard has been enticing, annoying, and ultimately sub-replacement since rejoining the rotation. Can Texas get 270 innings from them (and Jon Gray when he returns)?Jeff Wilson mentions in his newsletter than Spencer Howard and Dallas Keuchel are on the same schedule.

New BA top 100 has six Rangers
Baseball America has updated their top 100, which now includes six Rangers prospectswww.lonestarball.com
43 - Evan Carter
44 - Josh Jung
57 - Ezequiel Duran
67 - Jack Leiter
89 - Owen White
?? - Luisangel Acuna
Jung should be higher than the 40s.This is pretty interesting. It’s good to have 6 but surprised Carter is the top given what level he is on
Brings back memories. Had forgotten about Umbarger.Forty-five years ago today, August 8, 1977, I was at old Arlington Stadium and it was one of my favorite experiences at a ball game ever. We swept the A's in a doubleheader. Former Ranger, Jim Umbarger, hit Toby Harrah with a pitch and a brawl ensued. Also, the Rangers turned their first ever triple play.
I still think Leiter gets it together. He has that alpha geneJung should be higher than the 40s.
true but that was before the lock-out and we also signed Seager and Semien. my point was that once they failed to get Kershaw they went after Perez. fortunately for us Perez went bonkers for usWe also signed Jon Gray.
We do have a guy in our system who could be stretched out enough to go 5 innings by the beginning of September I would think. He has limited experience as a big league starter, but with an ERA as a starter below 2.00 in the big leagues.
Always good to out a pencil to it. Wonder if Winn turns it around enough to get some starts maybe in September. Wonder which pitcher we lose to make room for Keuchel if we go that route
i don't either. if all we did was re-sign Perez and Moore then we have Perez & Gray and go with prospects at 3, 4 & 5 and i'd rather see that then waste time, money and pain with a Keuchel or worseI understand what you are saying but I would rather them do what they did in the Bush for Kelly trade and in trying to build up the minor leagues. I am not sure I want a band aid for a year to increase revenue in the stands but also increase revenue on the payroll.
of what use is trooping either one out there?Jeff Wilson mentions in his newsletter than Spencer Howard and Dallas Keuchel are on the same schedule.
