From the sound of it, Deebo wanted back all along. He used TN to force PIT's hand. Good call on his part.

I agree that they definitely shouldn't be signing him to rely on him. He'll be productive in spot duty, where he should remain. Health is my main concern with the OLB group. I think JJ needs to bulk up to avoid injury. But we'll see how the defense looks. He could be much better and stay healthier in more 4-3 looks. Deebo is a ticking time bomb. His body isn't going to hold up much longer.

Deebo will and should be a factor...but I've seen on other boards where fans are making him out to be the final pc...@ 37? I'd try to keep his snap count down around 35 to 40 max to get him thru the season.

JJ...without something artificial helping him I think his bulk is what it is...needs another move aside from his bull rush.

Excellent read Face.

Glad to see Pittsburgh has learned from the Hines Ward debacle... I for one was not the least bit amused with that one. But you live and learn as you go, so hopefully this one goes over better.

But what ever Troy decides to do at this point, He was and always will be one of the Steeler Greats and I wish him all the best... Don't want to see him lined up against our Steelers, but if that is his choice, Good Luck Troy!!

Completely agree! It'll be tough to watch him play in another color. Would make me sick to my stomach! But I would of course wish him the best! He will forever be immortalized as a Steeler legend!

Glad to see him make the right decision... And also appreciated his comment "I did not seriously consider playing elsewhere". We were all worried about that! Sad to see him go... There will never be another like Troy Polamalu in the NFL, the player or the person. He was the epitome of Steeler football, and he will go down as one of the greatest of the NFL and most certainly the franchise. He leaves this franchise with one of the greatest legacies that it has ever known. For younger generations that didn't get to watch him in his prime, his legend is going to grow by them. Just you wait and see...

Troy Polamalu isn't a football player in Pittsburgh. He's an institution, on the same level as "Mean" Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, Jack Lambert and Jerome Bettis.

Thank you Troy... We love ya! It was a pleasure & an honor getting to watch you for 12 seasons. Next stop... Canton!

:salute:

PS. Hard not to feel shell shocked. 2 legends leaving that side of the ball... Poly & Lebeau... An entirely new feeling. Not to mention it's going to be difficult to break the habit of always locating Polamalu on the field prior to every defensive snap. His play ALWAYS demanded everyones attention.

We knew it was going to happen... But damn it didn't soften the blow at all!

I'm going to miss the heck out of that guy.

Its tough to watch the greats when they begin to decline. It will not be the same not seeing him on field. But at least this way our last memories will be of Troy the Badass. Not of Troy being bad.

Will never see someone with that combination of attributes again
polamalu-leaping-sack-superman.gif

In his prime, he made this look routine.

Didn't see the Troy posts in here.

But he's worthy of his own thread anyway.

The comparisons to Reed are fair as he was a HOF player in his own right. But they typically come from people that don't realize they didn't play the same position...Troy made his reputation around the line of scrimmage.

A question about the Black & Gold...

Will Ryan Shazier be healthy for the start of the season?

By all accounts I'm privy to...he should be good to go healthwise for OTAs and camp....hopefully it stays that way.

Definitely worthy! I debated on it but got too lazy lol.

More so that debate typically originated from butthurt Gayven fans that felt like they had something to prove. Especially to the Steelers since they aspire to be in the same class. I always shot it down with the different positions argument, but they still felt the need to outdo us.

Tomlin put him on a "get big quick" offseason plan. Shazier has been down in Arizona for the past month working out with James Harrison. The results are already showing (bigger than Jarvis already):

Damn, why does James Harrison always looks like he wants to whoop the shit outta someone?
