It's amazing to me how long ago the team met to discuss these guys and nothing has surfaced. I'm wondering what they are waiting for?

Possibly waiting to see how Worilds' FA goes? Gathering info on other FA's?

Well...very few notable signings league wide so it appears that most teams are waiting for next week to see who else gets released and what the FA market will ultimately look like.

Ed Bouchette is reporting that Troy has played his last game as a Steeler.

Ed Bouchette: I really think he's done in Pittsburgh. The rest is up to him. The Steelers coaching staff knew he would be limited in his ability to cover BEFORE last season, yet brought him back for one more year. I just don't see it happening again in 2015.

Troy has always been a tad mysterious...who knows what he's thinking right now...probably gauging interest from the Titans.

Anyway...the 2013 season he played pretty well, mostly injury free and the Steelers rewarded him with and extension to basically give him the most of remaining cash on his deal...very fair imo...I agree...your move Troy...wish you the very best, but it's time to move on.

I expect him to announce his retirement soon.

Jerome Bettis compares Troy Polamalu's situation to the end of Hines Ward's time in Pittsburgh - Behind the Steel Curtain
Hopefully Hines has talked to Troy... Or at least someone should talk more sense into him.

Agent says Troy Polamalu isn't sure if he wants to play in 2015 - Behind the Steel Curtain
His agent is doing some damage control. Trying to keep his star's image intact for whatever he decides. Nobody wants to think of him being pushed out the door. But that's exactly what is happening.

When you're not sure if you want to play or not...you really don't want to play...just looking for a reason to play imo.

Troy is set for life...very recognizable...could continue to cash in on the "hair" in commercials...for those of us who watch the team every week...it's clear that he's finished as a playmaker...I don't want to see him hang around for a check.

Until he goes to Arizona and for some dumb fucking reason in the middle of the season we trade something of more value for his dumb ass.....AGAIN.

:L

I think Butler wants to start fresh, Brett, Ike, JH, look for Troy to announce retirement...I don't see a big market for him aside from TN...AZ is strong in the back 4.

Ike is finished...at some point the ship sails...

No doubt, but the latest actions (letting the vets go) makes me think a lot of keeping the old guys in play was to appease LeBeau maybe.

Draft...agreed, he's kind of made up for the Hood pick with Tuitt....it's starting to look as if Worilds could be back on the Steelers # which takes some pressure off getting a starting caliber edge rusher. If so, he can afford to be more aggressive with the CB spot...in general, he needs to produce in the later rounds again...Bryant and McCuller last year helped.

Speaking of McCullers... Kinda seems like a vote of confidence in guys like big Dan when they released Keisel over Cam Thomas.

IMO McCullers is never going to be a great fulltime 3-4 NT, just too tall to stay low enough...but in a 4-3 scheme...I can see him becoming a serious force as a DT...give him 1 gap to handle, and I don't see how an OL is going to beat him consistently.

His size & length definitely makes him an attractive candidate to put on the edge. But I see him being a great utility/backup lineman for every position on the D-line. He isn't going to be Hampton-like on the inside, but at least he can hold his own no matter where you put him. He would have to be on the inside during goalline situations.

Lol... Glad others are seeing it that way. I'm sure Philly will still take the bait
