The Brewers are going to be limited because of Braun's Contract.

He is only owed 8 Mil this year, but that Contract Builds. It will be 19 Mil in 2016

Braun himself may have gotten off easy. But the Brewers Org? No, Sorry I don't agree with that

Isn't this a discussion for when Braun Stops being great?

Where is the outcry over the Brewers signing a guy they "knew" was in steroids?

In that event, you are penalizing the Yankees as much as Arod

Uh, how is the luxury tax a penalty to the Yankees, Dirt?

They signed the largest contract in the history of baseball knowing that they were going to have a huge payroll for many, many years, and they agreed to the luxury tax rules like everybody else... grudgingly, perhaps, but they abide by the same rules.

They were already going to pay those payroll taxes.

They had planned on paying that money, how is that a penalty? They keep the money, just the contract stays on the books. It isn't a fine "out of the blue".

Because don't you think if a club has a salary counting on their tax, they have a right to expect that player to contribute?

They need to be penalized for signing a known roid abuser

why should the team benefit when they know the history?

Imagine what black players say about Whites when they are with their Boys?

Riley Cooper was just dumb enough to get caught in camera

Double standards are problem #1 in race relations in this country.

Paula Dean getting fired because of something she said 30 fucking years ago? It's fucking retarded...with the laughability of how offenders get their lives destroyed for saying a word, the debate loses all credibility...

I don't see teams getting to remove the contractual money for guys having TJ or ACL surgery from their books.

Because not everyone has a Yankee hating agenda like yourself?

Maybe some with no such agenda feel differently?

Maybe

Maybe

Fact - They know he's a "cheater"

Fact - They sign him to a record extension knowing he's a "cheater"

No agenda required

Oh, here we go with the "Yankees were really, really REALLY counting on A-Rod's contributions this year!"

Why have they been so damn slow to put his ass back on the field? He's at least as effective as he was during last year's playoffs...which is at least as effective as anything else they've put at third this season. Go ahead and bring him back for his "contributions."

Oh, that's right, then you have to actually HONOR your contract.

Pah-leaze...the yanks playing the victim card is beyond hilarious.

:yahoo:

6 of their final 11 are against Baltimore...still think those are going to be crucial games with the division on the line....

So you are ok with every player in baseball receiving a suspension NOT counting against the teams payroll and tax

But if he plays for the Yankees, not ok?

Is that what you're saying?

Dear clay buchholz - please refrain from participating in the walk off jump around celebrations for a month after you come off the dl. (assuming you do come off the dl).

Thank you.

THIS....

He's still on the books...and in MLB isn't it AAV that is calculated? Even if they wanted to subtract the money he loses due to suspension, and then refactor the AAV for luxury tax purposes? I'd think that would be a fair compromise.

So, if he misses next year...he'd have 4 years at $61m remaining, not included bonus that he may actually achieve some of...rework the math and adjust the tax accordingly...might be the fairest method....

I don't know what that means

What you are implying is that player suspensions should not count against a teams cap, unless they play for the Yankees
