Chris Jones isnt going anywhere.
the chiefs can't afford him. he wants close to Aaron Donald money.
Chris Jones isnt going anywhere.
If Miami forks over two 1sts for Jones I don't immediately say no given the cap ramifications of paying a DT 20-25M when you're already paying Clark.Chris Jones isnt going anywhere.
They can. Cap gymnastics aren't exactly a healthy way to build a team though even if you can technically make it work. Ask the Cowboys with Romo.the chiefs can't afford him. he wants close to Aaron Donald money.
he already counts on the books with the tag.the chiefs can't afford him. he wants close to Aaron Donald money.
Extension wont go into effect until, what, 2022?You don't need the first year hit to be outrageously high. It might be 50% of the AAV or something like that, can't remember the exact rule on it.
There are three general options however:
A) Trade Chris Jones, Trade/Cut Watkins
B) Retain/Extend Jones, Cut Watkins
C) Trade Chris Jones, Extend Watkins at a cheaper number [ This is similar in premise to what the 49ers did with Buckner/Armstead]
True. if someone wants to pay a kings ransom in a trade I could see the Chiefs parting ways.If Miami forks over two 1sts for Jones I don't immediately say no given the cap ramifications of paying a DT 20-25M when you're already paying Clark.
For Mahomes, yeah.Extension wont go into effect until, what, 2022?
I agree. The injuries with Jones give me some pause, but Jones is about as good as it gets outside of Aaron Donald who is an alien. I am not going to panic over Jones if you get a healthy return of draft picks with Mahomes and Reid still there.True. if someone wants to pay a kings ransom in a trade I could see the Chiefs parting ways.
Personally I would rather have kept Jones over Clark (but clark is already signed)
I mean, I love how the Browns are doing things, planning for now AND the future (when guys like garrett, Ward, etc need big money), but like others have said for a SB they can do whatever they want. For Mahomes, yeah.
Watkins is in the poison-pill year of his contract where he is either released or extended. Jones is on the Tag and a trade has been posited to potentially bring back a Khalil Mack like value if you believe Daniel Jeremiah.
As far as 2020 goes, one of those two needs to move.
There's good team building and then there's leveraging what you've built to win the trophy.I mean, I love how the Browns are doing things, planning for now AND the future (when guys like garrett, Ward, etc need big money), but like others have said for a SB they can do whatever they want.
Obviously, Browns plan is in the hope Baker is a stud (not elite of elite, but no worse than top 10). If he is, they also need to win now before he would get big money (along with Garrett, Ward, etc)There's good team building and then there's leveraging what you've built to win the trophy.
Ignore one or the other and you're probably in trouble or just have some cheat code like prime Peyton, Brady, or Mahomes at QB.
I'd only need a playoff win to take that deal.I would not care if the Lions had to cut their entire team and hire no new player for 4 years if I got to watch them win a SuperBowl
177 bucks they could buy Trubisky from us.
